For crying out loud! I just got an email from Tracy that she CAN'T be at the morning show!! She has a Chemistry exam! :redhot:

WTF? GRRRRRRRRR!!!!

oh my goodness I thought she was good.... grr.... well maybe this is the truth... talk to her and tell her how much it means to you for her to be there and ask if maybe she can take the exam earlier...

WTF? How am I supposed to get my posing down with her not there?

I replied to her email (jokingly) can I write her teacher a note? I am SO pissed!

Wow - that really sucks! Two in a freakin' row!!!! Is there anyone who may be able to "fill in" for her? .....maybe even permanantly?

You may really like her and you may be seeing results, but the bottom line is she was hired to do a job, right? She needs to do it. You have set some very important goals for yourself and you've been determined and dedicated. Your trainer needs to understand that and be there when you need him/her.

Good luck!

well most teachers will let you take the test early if you have work or a good excuse.. some wont but I would ask her for sure... its not like this just came up you had this planned for a while

Take what she has given you......and I think its good myslef...cut her loose and find someone with eyes

My one comment - at this close to the show , if you find someone new who does posing differently then you start from scratch again. HOwever if you work on your posing - by th etime you are on stage you've pretty much learned what you 're gonna learn. You've done this once before, so you aren't totally new. You're goign to do it regardless of where she is, although it sucks. You are still fully able to do excellently!

Agree with Sassy - my comment was more geared toward eye on how the bod looks..flat etc

Yes. Posing should not change, the NPC has these set at certain way. It's the what and when to eat during the morning that is the most important at this point.

Is it all day?

Couldn't she go late?

She needs to be looking at her Friday night and in the morning BEFORE the pre-judging that way she can bring her in correctly. By the night show the judging is all over with.

.

Our little state is so small - I've run out of options trainer-wise anyway.

But I'm totally not confident on my posing, hence the reason I want her there!

To that point, at the very least, get your diet & eating schedule BEFORE the show so even if you are on your own, you aren't left holding the bag. If possible see if someone can video tape the AM show or get digital photos of your posing so she can see when she gets back for the night show and maybe make comments.

It is brutal having to rely on someone else when you need them, but I think you've given a lot of time & effort to this such that you can probably do a damn good job on your own. It would be better if she's there, but at the same time, it isn't drop down dead critical. Just sorta sucks. And at the same time, don't let it drag you down when it comes to beign on stage. Its still YOUR SHOW GIRL!

YOU EARNED IT! :)

Now sassafras.....

you KNOW how that goes at times....

yep -- but if you have it written out vs NOT having it written out , then at least u have somethig to work on.

I suggest carrying all your own potatos.

LOL

At the last show - I had my diet all written out - complete instructions - but SOMEONE didn't anticipate that I'd puff up like a blowfish on what I was given.

Which is why I feel it's important for someone to BE there to SEE me

Sassy69 said:
well same thing from then - dont' introduce new anything.

But wouldn't I also not follow same as previous because I DID follow what I was given & puffed up??

sass and i ALWAYS say...do NOT add in anything new just b4 a show that you werent already eating

I realize that - but I dont think you are understanding me.

At my last show - I ate what I was told to, which was also the same things I've been eating - and I still bloated. Then what?

Something was off.....anything different?

Fat burners?

Digestive enzymes?

Diruretics??

I wasn't taking dig enzymes last time (still not) & took my usual supps on schedule as usual. Fred had changed my diet every day the last week tho so each days food was diff. I did 2 of the jelly/ricecake thing b4 the show - in between morning & evening I bloated up, gassy, etc. Oh & I had added potassium/chomium 2-3 days prior.

POTASSIUM CAN BLOATD YOU SUB Q THOUGH

were you eating jelly during your mornal diet?

Fruit causes tyhat in a lot of people...even small amounts such as strawberry etc

The Shadow said:

Hell no! LOL

I think that's just what we are saying -- you saw how all I ate was chicken & potatos for 2 solid days pre-show / show day. I ate nothing but chicken, potatos & broccoli for the last 2 weeks prior as well as for about 90% of the 3 months leading up to it. Good ol' Fred had you all over the board. Any of that plus the stress of 'First show", etc. could've added to it. It is really an art to finding out what your body responds to, but just saying the general rule is keep it VERY simple. Fred made it complicated. Not your fault & I'm sure we arent' tellign you anything you don't know already.

You guys might not realize it but...

Jeez guys why are you beating Jen to death as what she did in the past based on someone she trusted for advice. I think that those who are well versed in competition diets should try and offer suggestions in conjunction with her existing diet and the remain 9/10 days not lighted veiled I told you so's.

Not at all --- I think Shadow & I are just stating the obvious. Sometimes you can never really plan everything perfectly or know what caused what. The most obvious thing is to only stick w/ food that you know is completely inert. But there are a thousand other things that can complicate things as well.

But to vel's point, Jen you have those 9-10 days and that bloat will most likely come down. You've seen the crazy changes that happen during this time. As tempting as it is, you can't really pre-panic because things will be changing on an hourly basis by the weekend. The bloat may not be an issue. Most likely (I"m hoping now that you are an 'experienced lady'..;) ) the stress level will be lower because you're an old hand at this now. That raw stress should be much less of an issue this time and more stress maybe on thinking of all the things you've learned since the last go around.

Its is very hard to make suggestions for the upcoming days because of the rate of change. As much as Fred was a POS, we did encourage you generally to follow through with this one trainer. It is valid to question to him why & what if, but it gets hairy if you try to take other suggestions as well. Unfortunately sometimes you get a sour experience. I just talked to a girl tonite at the gym who MOVED here to train w/ a particular trainer. And that trainer just bailed on her. How's that for a nice big fat fuckover? It can happen.

So anyway, again I'm going to continue to say work with the informaiton & the time you have with this trainer. Look at the diet for day before / day of, see if you see anything suspicious. Ask her if there's any place in there where things could happen. Have her look at you the night before. Have her look at you early morning of the show if possible. Hell, my trainer was checking on me every 2 hrs and even brought in Toney Freeman at 2 am. Prepare as much as possible, discuss contingencies for any issues and also try to identify any points where bloat or whatever could happen. Then you've prepared as much as you can. And just do it :) Sometimes too much planning, preparing and analyzing can mess you up too. Monitor yourself. Take it a step at a time. And try to keep relaxed as well. Stress can make you hold weight too.

Hope that helps. Not trying to attack or blame. Its just a common situation that things don't always turn out so good. But you've got lots of support and lots of tools to take care of yourself when you aren't able to rely on someone else. But really push for those checks w/ the trainer esp early morning show day. Watch what you in the morning so nothing hits you the wrong way and just go hit the stage w/ all that hotness!

YOOOOOOOOOOUUUUU CANNN DOOOOOO EEEEEEET!

To know WHY she bloated last time allows us to NOT make the same mistake again....N'est pas??

My point about the jelly was and IS that to NEVER EVER eat anything just before a show that wasnt already in the staple of foods...even something as "under the radar" as jelly.....this is as much for others to see who might be thinking about a show in the future as it is for Jens specifically as what was done was done.

Jens knows this insnt an "I told you so" by ANY stretch of the imagination as we have been discussing her diet since yesterday afternoon.

As far as my other thoughts...In the best of all worlds - you need a trainer/diet person there with you in case you overfill or look flat......you can fololow all the written instructions you want - but you never really know how you will look the 2 days before a show...especially if you are prepping on a plan that you havent used before.

The Shadow said:

Sometimes it's not what one says it's the manner in which it is said.

Sorry I just feel a bit over protective and if anyone just takes a moment to put themselves in Jens shoes for just a second ya'll might see what I'm trying to say. (and it's not just on this thread)

ps. I'm sorry Jen - it's like I'm talking about you like you're not in the room.
:worried: Ok I'll shut up now.

I think the real issue for Jen here may be the moral support her trainer could provide her when she's nervous (as it IS nerve racking!!!!) Someone to keep her at an even pace and give reassurance.

Not that you ABSOLUTELY NEED someone there, Jen. We see the pics - YOU ROCK!!!

But just the moral thing. I think her diet will be easier to deal with that day than dealing with the jitters and nervousness.

Got an idea Jen! Get yourself a laptop and have Shadow and Sassy online to coach you thru!!!! They know what they're talkin' about - who needs a trainer standing there....right?!?!?! lol

#1 Thanks for standing up to bat for me Vel!

NOPE!! I am HIGHLY STRESSED right now and I can't sleep which makes me more anxious & stressed.

Yes he did! Very weird! Anyway - I've been keeping it simple by excluding what I KNOW bloats me - broccoli, oats, asparagus, etc. Just green beans & spinach - will be only Green beans tomorrow & on.

This very minute - I have a 4-pack & hip bones BUT my lower abs are bloated like an Ethiopian child.

She's got a test that day (she goes to school) - she won't be at the show in the morning - thus I can't get her to look at me.

Jens how did you look in the morning? If you're able to keep those 4, the other 2 may pop out when you take out the water.

I can't believe you are going through another trainer problem. *hugs*

I am not going to give you advice on what to fill up on, because what worked for me is what most on this board are against.

What ever happened with the sweetpotato?

How'd you figure out what worked for you? I don't care if eating HoHos works for me - I just want to find out what that "what works for me" key is!

What about the sweet potato? I've been eating them......I was told recently that my carbs were too low (under 50g a day) & that I should be at 75g per day.

My abs were flat this morning with some nice definition but I think I looked soft & flat.

And why are you *supposed* to have steak on show day?? If as Sassy says - don't add anything that I haven't already been eating - and steak has NOT been part of my diet, then why add it?

Steak is slow digesting and should not bloat your stomach up like chicken. Protien on the day of the show is not that important. My guy had the girls eating ground turkey because it was a little lighter on the stomach and they had been eating it in thier diets. White potaos are good with that day of the show too.

Makes sense. But if it's something I haven't been eating all along then do I eat it show day or not?

You can. I did with the steak and white potatos the day before and day of the show. Just remember that it's all trial and error just relax and don't stress too much.

You cant make a recommendation to change a food group based on the knowledge that it worked for you......

If i were you Jen, then I would not eat stack show-day if it is not part of your daily diet. I don't care if it worked for EVERYONE. You do not know how it will affect YOU. And YOU are the only one that counts on show day. I would stick with only foods you have been eating.

I think you are holding up great. I know you have gone through a lot of trial and error - but that is what gets you the knowledge you need. Trainer or no trainer, you have gained a lot of experience and awareness of your body. That counts for a lot - it can only make you a better competitor.

I know you are stressed, but you will come through this fine. It is ALL a learning experience and you are doing GREAT.

My trainer gave me my diet for the last to 2 days and I just followed, I was alittle worried at first because it contained foods I had not been eating. But decided to follow it anyway and "see what happens". And lucky for me it worked better, but I'm also not a person that gets bloated from many foods.

So does sweet potato bloat you also?

Don't worry about the flat and soft look of your abs, that's from the lack of carbs and water. So are only eating 75g of carbs a day up until your show? That's pretty low.

That's what I was thinking - I haven't had steak in Months! So thus I don't know what it will do to me so why chance it? :worried:

For example - today is my last day of spinach cuz of what it does to me.

And THANK YOU Momma!

Are there alternatives to the steak - figure its slower digesting than chicken because it has fat in it. Chicken + some fats (EFAs) then? On my last 2 days it was all chicken, white potatos & broccoli. I've always been told between the AM & PM show start loading up the fats & carbs, e.g. steak & fries. This past time I just stayed away from anything I didnt' cook myself. We went to a steak house but I was freaking because I wa sure they were going to put some sort of seasoning or something on the steak that would fuck me up.

I will DEFINITELY make sure I bring my OWN potatoes everywhere!

:lmao:

Anyway - the show is 5 mins away from my house - so I'm coming home in between shows.

You better not forget the potato, or we may hear about someone to killed the waiter over a potato on the news :lmao:

Oh I'm not sure what sweet potatoes + lack of water do to me. but eaten with water - my abs disappear.

And I'm @ 75g carb per day till Monday - then 150g.

Jen why not try brown rice cakes? That is what I have been carbing up with and plan on carbing up with for my show. Oats bloat me but I still eat them now and then brown rice I process best. Yams and potatoes are a no go for me too.

Aren't all rice cakes made with brown rice? Or most? I've never seen brown rice ones - I don't think but I'll look. Thanks!

Nope any of the flavour ones are made with a mix of white and other things in them. Look for the plain ones only thing in it should be brown rice. I love them :chomp:

Well I meant the unsalted plain rice cakes - are they automatically brown rice or does the package HAVE to say brown rice? I didn't think the flavored ones were included! :lmao:

Sassers - how many potatoes fit in your purse? ;)

You'd be suprised -- I come well-prepared for any emergency these days!

You should have seen me at the Bristol Show - I had a cooler filled with Tupperware labeled - Friday meal 1, Friday Meal 2, Friday Meal 3 & so on. I was PREPARED! LOL

God, I was down to a pile of individual potatos in 2 tupperwares, all my chicken cut up & weighed in 2 others. No decorum. Just pack it.

Jens, no, the unsalted plain rice cakes are not automatically brown rice. You can get brown rice cakes at Trader Joes though. I'm thinking of using these as a carb source for myself too as of next week.

One thing with the rice cakes, they are pretty low cal. You may have to eat a ton of them wto carb properly which may bloat your stomach up.

TJs only has salted brown rice cakes - so I can't have them.

Guess I have to stick with potatoes!

Don't you have quakers orginal there? They are brown and unsalted. Bluehen I eat about 1 pack on my carb up days that is 14. I get zero bloat from them. I eat them in servings of 2 I love it cause I eat like every hour or so on carb up day which is a nice change when dieting. LOL

I can have them on show day - as long as they are unsalted.

So I'll prolly just stick with potatoes.

That's what I meant. Trying to eat that much the day of the show could bloat you. The white potatoes should be good with some ground turkey. You may want to have the whites later in the day on Friday, but that's up to you and your trainer.

You mean egg whites?

Trying to come up with a meal plan for show day now - so far looking like small amounts of food every 2 hours.

Like steak (3oz) + potato (2-3 oz) upon waking, 2 hours later - protein bar + 1/2 banana. I'll be at the venue ~ 10am - so it's rice cakes then + 1 packet jelly + PB.
