All depends on your complexion...half an hour is a lot for the first time, regardless of how naturally dark you are though. I'd wait about a week before going again, start with 10 minutes, and work your way up from there. If 10 minutes doesn't burn you, add two more, and work your way up like that.

Good advice.

Didn't the tanning salon have any recommendations?

yeah first 4 times for 15 minutes then my boyfriend said I was ready for
30 minutes, but I defiantely will not be int there any time soon for 30 minutes, 15 from now on..

EEK! Definitely depends on your complexion. I'm a blue-eyed blonde, scandinavian / german ethnicity. I don't burn... I combust! First make sure the bulbs in your bed are new. Also there are certain beds (tend to be a little more expensive) that will burn you less. I did a couple sessions to find out where my "burn point" was. Turned out 8 min was perfect for me. I assume you are using one of the accelerators they recommend w/ the tanning bed? After a few sessions I could comfortably go up to 10 min. At that point I had a trip to Atlanta & I didnt' want to get torched while down there in the summer heat, so I went 3 days in a row at 10 min each & got a nice base tan that was comfortably dark & also lasted for quite a while. Unless you are trying to build a good dark base for a competition I dont' really see the point to getting crispy burnt every time you go to the booth. I would keep it to a smaller amount of time - just pre-burn, and then get out. It isn't good for your skin & it just hurts. Do more sessions at smaller times. And make sure you get a good moisturizer too!

Moisterizer with ALOE a must for sun/tanning burns, usually have a big selection at Wal Mart this time of year......apply at least twice a day,and when you get out of shower especially.Burned like that in a bed about 10 years ago, spots like a leopard on my back in the weeks after from burns, kept the Aloe on,ended up okay.

I'm surprised they let you go in that long for your first time there...most places I've been to control the time on the beds from the main desk area, and if it's your first time there or first time in a while (regardless of how dark your complexion is or if you've tanned elsewhere) they only let you in for a short amount of time.
