Here is my gripe with insulin and protein absorbtion please add input.

Ok I have heard from quite a few people that basically all you can absorb and use efficiently for muscle building is an average of 50 grams of protein every 3 hours or so,I am fine with this. What I am not fine with is that the same amount of protein is all that the body can absorb while adding insulin, wich makes insulin in this case pretty much useless and absolete if you can absorb the same exact amount while using it as you can naturally. So if I am taking 20 ius of humalog wich spikes at the hour and has an active time of 2 hours all the protein I can use efficiently by my body is 50 grams why would I even bother with it and not just take my shake normal with out using the slin.

I think that protein absortion varies from person to person. The best way to tell if it's being watsed is to by some keto strips from the drug store and test your urine. The strips measure the amount of protein in your urine, which is where the extra protein ends up when it can't be used for other things. There is no way of knowing how much protein a person can absorbe. While on gear you can absorbe more than you could naturally. I would just make sure I got all the protein I needed in a day and wouldn't worry about it other than that. Taking in 150 grams in one sitting isn't going to be a good idea though. I would venture to say that is a lot and all will not be absorbed. Just make sure you are taking in equal amounts in all day long and you'll be fine.

Thing is this bro, insulin doesn't actually affect protein absorption, or fat. The only thing insulin directly does is shuttle glucose into the body cells. So, you can absorb much more CARBS on insulin than otherwise. I don't know that you'll actually be able to absorb more protein, but if you're getting enough protein to grow, and you double or triple the amount of carbs you're getting into the muscles, believe me you'll grow more. That's how insulin works. You want more nitrogen retention? Well that what your 2.2g's of gear is doing, the slin will get you more carb retention.. and you should grow.

I'm no expert, but how exactly do keto strips determine where extra protein ends up? They're used to see whether you're in ketosis and if fat-burning is taking place, not to see how much protein you're excreting with your urine.

Yeah, but when you have extra protein in your system your body converts them and excretes them through the urine. We use them in the hospital to test for certain liver failures.

Damn silverbackn, good lookin' out, it does have other minor functions. Insulin also controls the uptake of valine, leucine, and isoleucine by the muscles, which in turn helps to increase the synthesis of muscle proteins (Stryer 773). I'm not sure whether or not this increases the amount of protein you can absorb by any valuable %, but it does increase uptake of at least 3 AA's anyway. As far as I could tell though it doesn't shuttle anything but glucose, those 3 AA's it just helps other processes increase uptake, but still I stand a corrected penguin :)
