im a football player. im 17 running back linebacker.
ive been lifting since december consistantly. i wasent geting much stronger off the bat... but in like may i started getting allot stronger..and this is when i was trying to cut some body fat to get faster. in end of april\may i was about 195 pounds. and i wanted to get faster so i cut carbs and cals a lil and took xenadrine and dimmax creatine...and i was getting much stronger and losing weight at the same time... in the middle of this i squated 365x5 for good reps. and in the winter i max squated 405. today i am about 170 pounds i just tested my squat 365X3 and am very disapointed.
the most disapionting thing though..is my lifting parter who i was stronger then all along in bench squat and clean. max squated 455X3. i want to get much stronger by the time season starts.. i want to get faster and i want to weight about 185.
what kinda of diet should i try to be eating???????
the only time i cheat is on saturday.
i lift 4 times a week and run 5 starting next week.
i think im ging to start pushing my car 1 time a week also on my squat day to help my leg drive...

ne help will be apreciated

Well i dont know your workout schedule but keep in mind overtraining will mak eyou weaker. If yoiu keep your protein high and yes you do have to eat carbs, just hit the cardio and rest good, you will make quality gains. Dont just pick a bodyweight and say i want to weigh that. Merasure your bodyfat and go for that. Cause muscle weighs more then fat so you might gain weight. But if your overtraining and not eating enough th eworkouts and cardio could eat away some of your muscle. Making you lighter and yes weaker. Just my thoughts i could be wrong. But i have dropped weight and keeped good strength, it can and is done all the time.

im eating about 250-300 grams of protein a day..so i dont think that is the problem.
i go to bed at a good time .... although Xenadrine has caused me a decent amunt of insomnia. i have another bottle but im done taking it, because of this reason.
my diet is pretty good... i eat my carbs before and after my werkout, and i cut down on them latenite. i try to keep my fat content low. i never have dressing on salad or mayonase or ne thing on sandwiches.

u could see my werkout at www.huskerpower.com
and my running consist of plyometrics speed and agility drills.

sickness has caused me to miss 5 werkouts in the past month and a half

had tonselidious..dont kno how to spell it

I think Jay hit the nail on the head.I think you need more fat in your diet, first of all. This phobia with fat is so bad, especially for an elite athlete. When I say fat,I mean a good fat, with omega-3's,like flax seed oil,or maybe some olive oil.Your body needs and uses fat for energy, too, and you will see a decrease in performance,as well as other unpleasant side effects,if you restrict too much. The others on the board may disagree with me,but a strength athlete,an elite athlete, cannot eat and train like a bodybuilder, which is what you seem to be doing. It's good to want to keep your bodyfat down, for speed and agility, but you need to toss the scale.Don't look at it again.Instead, have your coach measure your bodyfat percentage, and use that as a gauge of your progress.Second, drop the xenadrine.A 17 year-old doing heavy off season training definitely doesn't need that kind of interference in an already stressed body.(besides, then there isn't any left for fat old ladies like me;))I guarantee the running backs on the Nebraska team are taking in adequate carbs and fat,as well as a zillion other supplements, like a multi-vitamin,vitamin C,calcium, zinc and Phosphorus.

good post...

how much fat should i take in???

should eat mayonase on sandwiches and cheat meals??
or stricly oils??

thanx

o yea..how many carbs in a day???
i usally only eat them before and after werkout..and i cut down on themat nite.. and non-workout days.

will this slow me down???

OK..I am going to refer you to a fantastic book..."Serious Strength Training-periodization for strength and size" by Tudor Bompa,PhD.It details training programs for each facet of a routine, from bulking,to cutting,to strength cycles...and has corresponding diet recommendations as well. You can get it off the Kinetic Concepts website...about 25.00 and the best money I ever spent on a weight training book(and I have them ALL)

Having played at NU, I can tell you if the workouts aren't making you bigger and stronger, then you are doing something wrong. I really don't think it's possible to overtrain on that workout (at least I never saw anyone). But I think your goal of a specific weight (like somebody said before) is what may be causing your problems. Lay off the Xenadrine and all that shit. Don't worry about your bf--it will take care of itself. Remember, you can't get stronger and lose weight (w/o gear of course) at your age. Just eat like a horse and stick to the workouts and you will be fine--I promise. PM me if you have any questions about the workout.

i have that book along with all the other human kinetics books also... im about to go look at it...i dont remeber seeing ne thing about nutrition but im gonna look now...

thanx for the great replies..
