Shadow, How can you explain how to improve speed by weight training for long distance triathlon (Ironman).
Besides swimmiing, cycling,& run specific training, how to incorporate weight training, to improve power, than will hence turn into speed? i hope it makes sense..
GG sorry for hogging your thread..

Ha good luck...there seems to be very little written in this area...Many do not train with weights in fear of building to much muscle and losing speed.....It is just now really being seen as a necessity
sprint and running power......which after the base phase is built then speed training with intereval training on the track and fartleks, hill workouts....There is no sense really doing that until I get a base down for the races that I want to do. So to work on endurance I need to focus on the longer runs and more base miles.Oh and think of a better way then to figure this all out before I get home from work today please....lol
Endurance is not just the ability to bear a hard thing, but to turn it into glory.
November 13th...
Well today is a day off or maybe weights....Im really sore from yesterday but the main problem is work up feeling really congested again. So I think maybe I pushed myself a little bit harder then I should have with having this infection. Also I had asked for any extra hours at work for money for christmas, and now they called and asked me to come in and work daycamp...YUCK but it is 6 extra hours. See how I feel later today....Okay now you guys figure out a better plan while I am gone lol

Hum! What we are lookijng for is exactly muscle because the ironman training, and the rae itself has eaten away most muscle, of course the endurance is there and the races have proven it, with great results...Now getting back the muscle, and begin training for new race on April 15, is the focus.
HELP!
As for the race....well I sucked lol....4th in my division 1:15 min.....which is way slower then normal...but hey no training last week and having a sinus infection for almost a month....Im happy with it...Next year better time!!! It was 32 degrees and snowed part of it...which I love to see but damn it was cold....
