Grippers

I don't have the CoC grippers but I have the Heavy Grips.

I just recently closed the gripper #5 - 300 lbs of pressure per square inch.

I still have the #6 - 350 - that's the one that Magnus closes 2 times - yes, world's strongest man

I have retarded strength in my hands....I don't have amazing grip when lifting, it's decent but nothing awesome, but I have a crushing grip and I break most peoples' hands if i press hard enough and yes they do help

Here's a link for you:

Heavy Grip Handgrippers- Hand Grippers, grippers, handgripper, wrist, strength

I have the HG250 and could do 10 reps every time I tried (after month) not sure about the HG300 as I don't own it but I have the COC2 and it's considerably tougher - like my best with that is a double. COC have a much more linear resistance (equal throughout) and a more quality feel. My grip was always shit until I stopped using straps and got a gripper. I keep the COC2 on my desk and when colleagues come over they usually pick it up and have a go - nobody ever comes close!

I might get into those, as I've always used a tennis ball. Problem with the tennis ball, is that it's non-linear; and doesn't give you a good, full range of motion. They should invent something, if there isn't already such a thing, that will let you have the same resistance all the way from open-fist to closed-fist.

Just fyi; I use lifting hooks for deadlifts and dumbell shrugs. Without them, my hands and grip are nowhere near strong enough to get a good workout with shrugs (120 lb hex dumbells). My grip craps out after about the 5th rep, and feel nothing in the traps yet. Lifting hooks make it so I can take my traps to exhaustion. Right now, I have a hariline fracture in my left wrist, which makes the lifting hooks a must for anything that "pulls" on the wrist. I'm not supposed to work out at all, but I'm addicted and flat-out disobeyed the order. I even took the splint off and went out on my dirt bike last weekend, and will today too. (I hope Dr. Fischmann isn't an EF member or is reading this!!!!)

I don't know 100% sure how that fracture started, but I suspect it was forearm wrist curls which I did a month ago. I felt something like an electric shock, and it hurt later... Then the next day, I leaned on a shelf in the garage suddenly to catch a fall after I tripped, and CRUNCH! My wrist swelled up black & blue that night. It's a hairline fracture so small that it doesn't even really show up on an X-ray, but the doctor is pretty sure that's what it is, as nothing else is wrong on exam. He says it's common in fighters, motocross/skateboard/BMX riders. He threatened me that if I make it worse, I'll have to get a 5 inch bolt through the front of my thumb, and out the side of my wrist for 6 weeks.

The reason I'm boring you with all that, is that Dr. Fischmann also said that we can get "too muscular in the wrist and forearm" for our bones to handle, making it possible to break your own bones with your own flexion.

Shit that is gnarly about breaking your own bones with flexion!!! Hope you heal quick:)

so do people thing CoC is really that much better than HG? or are they pretty much the same? I wouldnt know which to get: CoC trainer (100lbs of resistance), No1 CoC (140lbs of resistance) or HG1 which is also 100lbs resistance...

You know you can always work on doing Olympic style deads, static holds and pinch plate work and save some money? :)

Thing is alot of people say u can't beat grippers for developing a hard crush grip.

By Olympic deads do u mean hook grip deads or snatch grip deads?

I strongly feel you're exaggerating bro

I have crushed big ass hands in under 5 secs and I can't even close the 350 lbs one from Heavy Grips

I don't know about crushing big hands, just that I own both brands and that's how they stack up for me.

The No3 COC is so hard I can't hardly move it. Even Mark Felix from WSM had to practice for a week before he could do an "unofficial" No3 close.

I'd also say that because the HG are cheaper, they are probably less standardised meaning that there is probably a fair difference between different grippers of the same rating.

LOL... I'm sure in my case I didn't do that from lifting alone; I wish I was that strong. Doc just warned me that it's possible, and he's seen in in serious lifters. I think I probably had a weak spot from other MX crashes, and stuff. So the lifting probably weakened it more, then catching myself on the metal shelf split it all the way to a hairline fracture.

I do have a buddy who tore his bicep tendon completely off his arm bone, by showing off on the preacher bench (while drunk)... The doctor said that's actually harder to do than to break a bone while lifting. Feet & hands especially subject to breakage from stress/lifting.
