Funniest/Stupidest advice you hear at the gym???

Here's 2 of my faves...

1: "Yeah I do high reps every once in a while TO CUT UP THE MUSCLE, YA KNOW? It cuts up the muscle and gives you those rips"

2: Newbie: "Oh I never seen people do curls like that before...."

"Pro": "*gasp**breathe* yeah...WHOO!*gasp* yeah you do these to *breathe* BRING OUT THE PEAK IN THE BICEP*wheeze*!!! Gives your biceps that*gasp* peak, ya know?!?!"(as if biceps had sepreate muscles in them specifically for "peak". )

Name some you've heard.

"Use the Smith machine for [compound lift]. You don't have to worry about any of that silly 'stabilizing!'"

:splat:

Me, about 3/4 of the way down on a set of squats. (several different things have been said to me here, this is all from trainers)

1. You look young... did the trainer say you could put weights on that bar?

2. Why don't you come over to the "insert long name, usually ending in TECH or AX" squat machine after you're done, and tell me if it doesn't feel a lot better?

3. Those can stunt your growth if you aren't careful.

4. Excuse me, son, but if you go any lower than where you are now (usually, at this point, just starting to get to parallel, planning on going a lot lower), you are doing more harm than good. (this one was funny, it was at a training camp and my instructor told him to fuck off)

It would be a lot easier to just roll the tire to the finish line...

What do those work?

Those are bad for your back...

You are going to pull your back out.....

You are going to get a hernia...

Do you want to borrow my belt and straps?

LOL!!!

lets see

Squatting wide is no good for you, you should squat close, you'll lift more that way.

What do those do?

You should use a close grip on close grips (i usually do 2 fingers on smooth, they wanted me to put my fingers on the knurling in the center)

Squatting will screw up your knees if you go to low(said as the guy continues to squat down maybe 1/2 way with knee's all the way in front of his toes)

You can get in great shape by doing this (said by a kid doing a treadmill who cant run properly so he turns it up all the way and falls and is still holding on getting dragged by the machine)

My workout partner, at the time, had huge legs--as a matter of fact he cut down on his sets because his legs were getting "too big"--I hate him. Well, he just finished a set on squats, he went to the leg extension and put the pin on the heaviest weight. He was in the process of repping this out when out of nowhere a girl with toothpicks for legs appeared. She told him he was doing it wrong. UNBELIEVABLE! The person with the smallest legs in the gym telling the guy with the biggest legs that he was "doing it wrong."

I have actually been looking at a bodybuilding mag and have someone (as they point to a picture of Ronnie Coleman) say, "I don't lift weights because I don't want to get that big." Yeah, and I don't star in pornos 'cause I don't want to embarrass John Holmes.

Doing full range reps is bad for you......

You can't grow off sets of 5 reps.......

Steroids will make your dick smaller.....

"girls can't build muscle so there's no point that you lift intense..."

"if you take more protein it will make you fat"
