Frequently swtiching workouts

This si something ive wondered about for a while. I know that shocking the muscles is critically important. however, how often should you change your program? And how much should you change it?
A few exercises at a time or give the majority of the exercises a change?

I almost always use the same exercises, after all, there are only so many true mass building exercises, when I want a change I'll switch up the order or possibly rep scheme

You're right on Needsize. Changing the exercises is the variable you need to change least often. rep tempo and time between set need to be changed as often as every three. weeks. Charles Poliquin expounds brilliantly on this subject.

I switch my routine up when I feel like I am no longer gaining from it. Sometimes just throwing in a new exercise it all thats needed.

When you try a new exercise there is a window of great gains in strength because of neural adaptation. Essentially you practiced the movement and got better at doing it. In the larger picture it doesn't mean much though. If you enjoy it and it refreshes things for you that's cool, but squats and deadlifts and so on will always be key.

I never do the same workout to weeks in a row. I have two dif ones for each part and I alternate them. I do change both of them every 6 to 8 weeks.
