F'n workout partners!

I don't know about all of you, but I go through workout partners, just like tubs of protein. They all start out with great intentions but as soon as they figure out that I don't play, uh oh, their grandmas get sick, girlfriend conflicts start to arise, long bouts of the flu, "extra stuff at work keeps coming up", or the best "I read it's better to do high reps with really low weight" excuse arises. Just thought I'd try to get a little sympathy from my kinfolk on the board.

Me, too!

I hate workign out w/ others.

When I was married (and dating my ex) it wasn't so bad, because i knew I was keeping her in shape (personal gains for me.. hehe).

But, otherwise... don't want to deal w/ the chit-chat, downtime, coordination, etc..

I generally tend to train in a pretty "fly by the seat of my pants" routein, admittedly. I definitely try to get my workouts in for the week, but I often don't know i'm going to be going to the gym 10 mins before i'm in my car.

In the gym it's just me and my tunes on the MP3P.... all business.

yeah I work alone too. I used to have great workout buddies but then they all left after college (conan69 being one of them, very inspirational if not downright crazy man). but now I train in the mornings and I like it better that way because I have a HUGE gym all to myself.

I have not had a partner in almost 7 years... I think I am going to need one soon though to push my training to the next level.

I feel your pain Bro' training partners are about as unreliable as the weather. I have burned thru at least 4 different partners, one guy in less than a month, pussy.

Train by yourself, push yourself to the limit and when needed have the gym staff spot for you. Make sure you tell them not to touch the bar until you ask for it, these freakin' idiots don't know shit!!, and then just enuff' to get the bar moving again! I train alone and sit there inbetween sets watching the "fluffs" stand around and talk for 10 min then, and this is my favorite, grab 75's rip out 4-5 reps and drop them from the top to the floor.

ASSHOLES!

Stay strong Bro'...

I don't like guys that throw weights :mix: If you can pick it up then you can set it down.

just kidding bro, I agree completely these guys stand around talking on their cell phones and then they ask questions why they are small and how to get bigger. funny shit.

Yeah they suck, I have been working out solo for the last 3 years and may never have one again. Sure a good one may help to push you, but more often than not they are just a distraction, late or noshows. Modified my workout, stick mainly to dumbells... easier to drop dumbells than get stuck under the bar trying to squeeze out that last rep. But for leg days a good workout partner is really needed.

I'm lucky, I have several close friends who are great training partners (intense, knowledgeable, considerate etc.), I have trained with sit partners though and it really holds you back.

I'm VERY fortunate. My work-out partner is a professional trainer who spends hours figuring out the best training schedule. I just copy what he does. He doesn't juice and thinks I'm crazy for doing it, but he's jealous of the gains!
