First day back

Well I took a week off mainly because I got sent to rural Wyoming for five days for work. So last night in the gym I started my heavy training cycle. Hadn't really planned on it just felt strong so I went for it.

Squats went light but was working on range of motion, had my hips below my calves. Also did leg press focusing on vastus development.

Squats

225x5
275x5
225x5 pausing at bottom

Will be doing pauses with 315 in 2-3weeks then working up to 400.

Leg press 4x8@550

Then moves on to back

Iso machine rows
200x8
500x8
800x8

hammer iso pull downs
300x8
500x8
300x10

Shrugs
400x6
700x8 plus ~10sec. hold on last rep
400x8 plus ~20sec. hold on last rep

No pr's but not bad for first day back at it.

Cheers,

seems like a lot of people n this board have been taking some time off.....must be that time of year when everyone has been going strong since early spring or something.

i myself took a week off about 2 weeks ago....

Good job man...how do you like those iso rows? I've never done them...

I like them a lot. The machine at my gym has rotating handls so you can get different angles of attack. I have added som pretty good thickness to my back with them and am excited to start my heavy training cycle again. The only problem now is it doesn't hold any more weight and my gym has no 100's. Oh well will have to find something else.

Are you holding a barbell loaded with 700 pounds for 8 reps and a ten second pause? Do you compete in strength sports or do you bb? Either way that is some big weight...nice job

No it is a split handle, off a pivot so it might actually weigh more at the grips, so I can center between them. The most I have ever shrugged on a straight bar is ~600. That was a while ago. I am 12 weeks out from a strongman event and the highland games are about a week after that. I'll let everyone know how things are going.
