fat in precontest diet

tps

New member
I officially start my diet today.. :worried: I get my extra fat in the form of nattie PB..but a friend tells me peanuts are the worst choice and i should stick with almonds. (peanuts have a high mold content????) Its easier fo rme to have a tbs of pb than nuts..i would eat more than i should..what do you guys think?

Almonds, ANPB, Flax Oil, Fish....these are ALL good sources of fat. I eat Sunflower seeds and Cashew's too (sometimes).

That's why you keep Natty PB in thr fridge.

How far out are you? You should be fine if you're just starting your diet. I'm sure your trainer will be watching how your body reacts.

Natty PB is fine, it is usually a staple in pre-contest diet - although, it is usually out a few weeks prior.

I tend to think that almonds are a good choice too though. Maybe you can alternate or switch every now and then.

Where do you get Natty PB? Who makes it? I havent seen that kind in my grocery.

I ate natty pb right up to the day of my comp the brand I had there was zero sodium in it so there was no reason to cut it. I prefer natty pb to almonds just because I have an easier time with portion control on natty pb then I do with almonds. In terms of amount of intake of total fat on a comp diet I would say 20-30% of macros is a good place to be.

If you want to manage your fat very tightly for competition, you can go w/ flax seed oil. I've done comp prep w/ ONLY that as my fat source (outside of fish & steak). No nuts, no pb.

thanks girls for all your replies. i LOVE nuts..to much that is why I prefer to get it w PB..much easier to control portions.. a can of nuts is the 1st thing I devour after a show! I am 15 weeks out..so I have plenty of time as my nutrtionist has me at about 25-35 fat grams a day at this point.
sassy..i switch the flax oil the last 6 weeks....thats when i really miss that PB!

Natty PB is usually found in health food stores - Whole Foods, Wild Oats for example.

Many people cut out Natty PB precomp in favor of oils and whole foods (i.e., nuts). Also, many people have trouble with the portions of PB - they overdo it. But everyone is different. If you find PB is easier to control than nuts, then there is nothing wrong with it.

I found a jar of PB that costs $17.99 at Whole Foods! I was like that better be orgasmic. That was even the small jar! I could never spend that much on a jar of PB maybe a steak!!
