Elliptical vs. Treadmill/Running

Is it me or does the elliptical seem so much easier then more impact forms of cardio (treadmill or outdoors running)?

Trying to find the most comfortable form of cardio for me to do HIIT daily, and it seems that elliptical seems almost too easy. Does the elliptical work you as much or "as good" as running on the treadmill? Is it all just my imagination? I do happen to sweat more, but I'm not as tired..

I like the elipticals... I dont have to think as much and it takes my mind off of how tired I am and what not. It is my guess that possibly, if you are like me, you go into discognated hypnosis(spelling?) faster than when running, saving you from getting so tired. Also I might recommend to up the resistance a bit.
I hope there is a little more feedback on this subject seeing how the eliptical does seem so revolutionary.

Thanks for your reply. Just as you said, seems I don't get tired as fast and it's easier to keep my mind off of what I'm actually doing. I'm still trying to train my mind to stop thinking like a lazy fatass and think more like an athlete..

Well, the elliptical seems easier because you don't have the impact on your knees with every step... having said that, though, it does not have to be an easy work out: Up the resistance and incline. The elliptical seems easier at 80% MHR than running at 80% MHR, even though they are supposed to be the same intensity (at least from a cardiovascular point of view)....

What I like most about it, is that I can just close my eyes and concentrate on the music on the MP3 player... that is all, just make sure the music actually helps you keep the pace

I like the elliptical 'cause I can get lost in my music without worrying about being run over. i just have to worry about cycling the resistance & incline up & down for the interval part. It's easy on my arthritic knees & I can ease the intervals up as I go.

I like both and usually do both. But the elliptical doesnt seem to be easier to me. But I like to put the level up real high--so I really have to push---But do you think thats going to make me bulk up in the hips and butt area--I dont wanna get big in those areas. ?

At short intervals it should bulk your legs up and maybe shoulders. But not a cardio workout, you have to pick to do one or the other.
