Eating lying down??

Lately, I've been consuming my last meal of the day about an hour after training and about 5-10 minutes before I crash. I also have been consuming it lying down, watching the games, vegin out, etc........sometimes I crash as soon as I'm done (or even before, lol). I've also been having some serious constipation problems around 10-11am the next day. Could this be a result? Anyone know the effects of eating either laying down or before bed? Does it screw with digestion?
 
When you eat. food travels down your esophagus and the esophagus sphincter opens to allow it to enter your stomach. If this spincher does not function properly then acid from the stomach can enter the lower part of the esophagus, causing irritation. This is called 'gastric reflux' or in simple language 'heartburn'. In a reclined position you run a higher possibility of this occuring. Prolonged bouts of untreated gastric reflux can cause a narrowing of the esophagus and eventually cancer of the esophagus. So your mother was right when she told you to sit up straight when you ate. There is nothig wrong with relaxing while you eat but just don't go to the extreme and let your head hang over the side of the couch while you push food into your mouth. Sit up!

Constipation is usually nutritional based. If you are experiencing constipation on a regular basis then your diet is probably very low in fibre and/or very high in processed foods. To relieve constipation just eat something which you haven't had for a long time. Usually the reintroduction of a food type is enough to help you out. I would avoid any type of over-the-counter drug to assist you. Then start introducing high fibre foods to your diet and keep yourself properly hydrated at all times.
