Hey Walkingbeast, 70 grams in one go is pretty good going. I take that much postworkout with 2 scoups of Cell Tech.
My question is, how much protein do you take in during one average day (training day and nontraining, and how do you break it down, food and liquid (shakes)?
Your input will be much appreciated mate!
ThanX for asking brother!! I wouldnt be able to hold 2 scoops of cell-tech along with anything else. haha Ive vomitted on that as well as a few other supplements. TRAC was another. Cell-tech definately works though. I usually only take one scoop of that per day when Im on it, since its hard for me to digest sometimes. Yea, I can take anywhere from 30 grams to 140 grams of protein in one meal. Usually to go over 100 grams would be a buffet, 8 fried chicken legs with 10 corn fritters or maybe 8 slices of pizza. Those are some of the big meals Ill eat. 70 grams of protein feels just right with that Elite protein. Doesnt give me any digestive problems at all. Always hard to guage how much of the protein is actually used but my main goal is to get it in by the end of the day. I figure if its not running through me it must be getting used fairly well. Besides Im full most of the day, so I figure the resources are there for the body to build muscle. I would like to start forcing down even more calories again. I was making good gains before injuring myself again though. As usual my diet and routines are never too conventional. Im mostly nocturnal which means 7-9am is often my bedtime, but it rotates. I dont concentrate on eating clean at all. The only thing I try to avoid is excess refined sugars, since it doesnt offer anything towards my goals of strength and size. But only in excess. I would rather fill up on protein and carbs. My problem has always been eating enough, and with a bad stomache and nerves it adds to the challenge. I have trouble eating as even a normal non lifter would. So its mostly force feeding. Basically I try to get around 200 grams of protein a day (when Im training. out due to a back injury for now). My eating style varies, but often Ill eat one large/very large meal and then take a protein shake as well as 1/2 gallon of milk as well, and maybe some extras like peanut butter, cheese, sliced meats, and other non cook foods. I keep a refridgerator on my desk as well.
I dont really count the carbs and calories as much anymore (I used to go for PR's), but my calories arent nearly as high as Id like. During my old bulking diet I would sometimes hit 6000 calories and average over 4000. Now Im more in the 2500-3500 range Id say. If I dont eat one large meal, then I may get 200 grams of protein just from milk, cheese, peanut butter, sliced meat and not have any actual sit-down meals. Just eating throughout the entire day. It all adds up. I may hit 3-4 meals sometimes but its not very often. How can you divide 1/2 a gallon to a gallon of milk drank over several hours into a meal? Same with the peanut butter and other non cook foods I eat throughout the day. Sometimes Ill go over 200 when Im consistent with my diet. If my diet isnt consistent the protein can range from 60 grams to 240 depending on the day. So I aim for a consistent 200 when Im training and not injured. Im still trying to maintain 200 grams and good calories to maintain my weight somewhat. Overall my training and non training days I shoot for the same goal of atleast 200 grams of protein per day. Most of it is liquid Id say since I have trouble eating. I drink 1/2 a gallon of milk every day and sometimes increase it to a gallon (6$ a gallon since I cant digest regular milk, so expense is the issue. I drink lactose free milk) Then theres one large protein shake (69 grams of the Elite whey). So thats over 130 grams of protein just from liquid. Then there may be one large meal, or I may get the rest from string cheese, peanut butter, sliced meat that I keep in my refridgerator. I might even finish off with a meal and the extras inbetween or afterwards. The main thing is that I get it in. Ive had days that it was almost all liquids. I find it much easier to consume the protein that way. I can drink a gallon of milk with no problems (lactose free). Ive even drank more. My budget is around 10$ a day for food though, so I cant always afford it. I like to eat some solid foods also, just incase they may have some extra benefits. Most of the time it is mostly liquids though and maybe one actual food meal. Not too conventional but Ive developed most of my training routines and diet myself. Mainly from experience and seeing whats worked best up to this point. I also respond to food much differently then most, so I have to work around that. Some days I might even take 6 scoops split into two serving of the Elite protein and thats 138 grams of protein right there and doesnt fill me up much. Problem is , even if I push my protein up to 300+ and dont keep the calories high I drop muscle very fast. So there needs to be a balance of protein and calories for me to make any gains. This is why milk has made a HUGE difference for me. A gallon a day is 128 grams of protein and 2400 calories. Most of the time I only drink 1/2 a gallon, but I plan on increasing it and maintaining a gallon a day. Sometimes Ill drink chocolate too. Doesnt hurt for a change. Hope that helps!! KEEP KILLING THAT SHIT!!
