Does High Metabolism Equal faster recover cycle?

What do you think? Does having a fast matabolism give a person an advantage during recovery time?
 
I don't think so.I have an extremely fast metabolism and my recovery ability sucks.Maybe it's just me though.
 
I've always thought metabolism had to do with the rate at which your body converts calories (food) into energy (movement). Doesn't seem like it really has much to do with recovery. Correct me if I'm wrong...
 
Recovery will be based on how many calories your body uses, not burns. When you burn a ton of calories, it makes it that much harder to recover. That is why it takes some people a while to begin building muscle after they have dieted.

I agree, but i feel it is more a case of caloric need. And if your metabolism is moving at a higher rate, that is going to increase your caloric need.
 
I'd have to disagree fella's....metabolism is the sum of all chemical reactions in the body (not just how fast or slow you burn calories)....in which, recovery is a chemical process. So metabolism has a direct effect on how quickly you recover. Think about it this way.....the higher your metabolism, the faster each of your muscle cells goes through protein synthesis.....therefore it would be able to rebuild the tissue faster!!!

then how come people w/ fast metabolisms have a hard time putting on muscle?

that's a good question. It's because of they're body type. Most people with a naturally high metabolism are ectomorph's......so they have a hard time adding fat and muscle. That's why every body builder tries to keep their metabolism high during the off-season....to add more muscle. As I said before.....the higher your metabolism, the faster each muscle cell goes through protein synthesis and lipid synthesis.
