Decaf

I realise that coffee is a diuretic and if you drink it you should up your water intake to compensate. But why is this? Is it just due to the caffeine in the coffee or is it something else?

If I drink a few cups of decaf per day, would I need to up my water intake? In other words, does decaf act as a diuretic also?

Thanks

Caffeine is a diuretic, decaf contains very litte caffeine, so you wouldn't need to drink more water. If you like, drink one extra cup of water per day.

Thanks bro. Karma for you.

So that means I can happily drink as much decaf as I want as it basically contains nothing?

Yeah, its the caffine in the coffee that acts as a diuretic and makes you dehydrated. Decaf should be fine for you to drink if youre worried about that. Though if youve been drinking loads of coffee is a good idea to gradually switch over otherwise you will get withdrawl headaches which can be a bitch.
