my right trap is larger then my left, but im able to see many differences between my left and right side--but with the traps, could it be because of my grip on deadlifting?? i always take, left hand, palms up, right hand--palms down.
just genetics man, my right is bigger then my left, not like super noticably, but its not a big deal. if u want you could jsut swap yer grip and see what happens, but i highly doubt that grip would change how yer traps grow

In my case, I HATE the mixed grip, so I do a double overhand grip. My hands are freaking tiny, too, so I cannot use a hook grip. I just use my thumb to smash my middle finger into the bar.
I always use an alternate grip without switching which hand goes which way. My traps are the same size, so i dont think it has anything to do with that. I tries switching the hands the other way but it doesn't feel right.
I am the same as you, bigstve, but just because it doesn't cause US to have an imbalance doesn't necessarily mean that someone else will have the same fortune. Perhaps some people are better at keeping the traps even when pulling with an alternate grip than others. Maybe he has a slight spinal curvature, and even though it LOOKS even, one side is actually doing more work....who knows.
Not everyone is as perfect as us huh spatts....j/k. If thats the case magman, while deadlifting imagine your hands as anchors and all they are doing is holding the bar, if that makes sense. Some people while deadlifting shrug their shoulders up a bit, or raise their hands upward, which i never understood, maybe something like that is going on that you can correct.
bigstv, are you a powerlifter? I thought bodybuilders did the shrug thing to build the traps (upperback in general). I don't know why a powerlifter would shrug though.
