D1 Baseball

I play baseball for a D1 University and I am wondering the best ways to increase bat speed, arms strength, foot speed, and overall to get a more powerful swing. Anything anyone can let me in on is greatly appreciated, thank you.

I know most major league players are jacked. Big Mac is a known user, big time. Brady Anderson used one off season, put those lbs on and hit like 50 bombs the next year. Baseball guys look like linebackers these days.

I'd say make sure you're doing squats, cleans and deads. Power movements. Escpecially in the off season. Just opinion though.

bat speed is a tuff one.. you should do side medicine ball tosses..and maybe some hand speed reaction drills.. strong arms and forarms..

your training should consist of core lifts, bench squat deads pullups cleans curls.. .maybe some extra forarm and grip work for bat speed...

footspeed- jumping rope dot drills, plyos..

arm strength was always a tuff one for me.. i always had the arm of a third grader.. maybe someone could help u out with that one..

I played D1 baseball for the past 3 years and am playing professionally right now.

I am a firm believer at being strong at contact--forearms, triceps, biceps. Forearms being the number one area to work on.

I would have to say that mechanics are the most important part of hitting a ball hard--without those-a hitter is doesnt have much of a chance.

bat speed

Best tip I ever got for bat speed, won me 3 straight batting titles and a scolarship, was to get a broom handle and tape a towel to the end of it. cut the towell at the ends about 6 inches. this will create a lot of wind resistance, the harder you swing the more force will be genrated by wind friction to stop your swing. Plus the swing will exagerate if you have an overswing or uppercut. Practice untill you swing is nice and level and the speed is fast and constant. I did for 2 months and when I got done I started to crush the ball. BA. 374 before, after .524

by the 12 oz one, and follow their training steps. A shorter stroke , better loaded, and quicker release of the bat head. If you train properly, this will definetely help you make more solid consistent contact, and more power as well.

I will be glad to help in any way regarding hitting.
