counts?

Do most of you stick to the rule of thumb for a 4 count with all of your sets? some of your sets? For example I try to be pretty strict about 4 counts specifically for squats on the way down. But not as much so for something such as tri's
 
Not me, I never count but if I had to guess I'd say my down count is 2-3? Same for up too I guess.:rolleyes:
 
actually i never really think i count except on bench, in which i do 2-3 on the way down. it just flows, if i think im going to fast i will slow down, if i thinkin im going to slow i will speed it up, i just judge by the movement itself. man you do 4 second count on the way down for squats, ouch i couldnt imagine myself doing more than 5 reps with that, haha.

yo you don't even know...I'm embarrased to talk about the kinda weight I'm squatting these days but the fact of the matter is its my squats are harder than ever, I'm getting more results (sizewise) than ever and I'm always sore as fuck.

In college I tested my sr year for reps and I banged out 325 for 10 (at 5'10 175). This guy (our fitness coach) was like this annapolis big dog or whatever but he had us doin like quarter squats..you drop your ass 1/2 way to parrallel and he would be like good where then you would proceed to the next rep. I put on 325 thinking I was gonna get like 3 to 4 but he was so lenient on the ROM.

Now going all the way down and using 4 counts I SERIOUSLY question the effectiveness of his emphasis of training for max. 325 for 10 calculated as low 400's squat.

As of yesterday I struggled with my last set which was 205 for 4 no joke...noone laugh please...lol

Just goes to show though how much you can cheat yourself through innefective training.

Hate those mutherfuckers in the gym who rock mad wieght with the shittiest form you've ever seen...hootin and hollerin like their doin something special
 
visions not counting, doesnt mean you have bad form. i have great form on all my exercises, i would easily be able to estimate how much time i take but i dont usualy count in my head, it is still a controlled motion.

never said not counting was bad form....I said using mad wieght without control was bad form :)
