Cardio/weights in the mornings/evenings??

ShadowKnight

New member
I've been doing just weights (low reps, high weights) in the mornings, 5 days a week, but have been wanting to do cardio in the evening to lose some body fat. Most of the research I've looked into has all conflicting answers. So thought I'd ask you guys.

Is it better to:

Do cardio in the mornings and weights in the evenings?

or...

Do weights in the mornings and cadrio in the evenings?

Any info or places to go check out on that are much appreciated.

Thanks all,
SK

Most individuals favor AM cardio sessions. The reasoning behind this is during sleep, you essentially go through a fast. So therefore when you wake up your bloodsugar is low and your body's primary fuel source will be it's own fat.

To get the most out of fat burning, do your cardio in the morning on an empty stomach. Lifting ideally should be done approx. eight hours after an intensive cardio session. This allows your CNS to recover from your cardio and allow your muscles to recoupe fully. As far as what time to lift, solely depends on the individuals body and how you feel at different times of the day. As for me, I couldn't lift first thing in the morning, as it takes my body a few hours upon awakeing to be fully primed.

Cardio's primary fuel is fat because it works the slow-twitch muscles. I believe the best times to do cardio are first thing in the morning and also later in the evening. These two times are when one's metabolism is at its lowest (other than sleeping). Once your overall metabolism goes up, you become a fat eating machine. I would recommend weightlifting sometime in the afternoon or at least after you get some carbs in your system.

Early AM cardio for me with nothing for Breakfast except a glass of skim milk and Protein.
If I do much cardi late in the evening, I'm up all night.
Morning Cardio gets me going for the day...

Morning cardio also increases your metabolism for the rest of the day, meaning you will burn more fat in your everyday activities than usual.

Do whatever works for you- if you are stronger in the morning- gofor the weights- if you go in real LATE in the evening- do some cardio and dont eat after, maybe just a shake b4 bed....

i do all my weights in the morning, and abs and cardio at night usually....
