Cardio, How much ?

I generally do 40 minutes of cardio 5 days/ week in the morning. Then do my lifting 4 days/ week in the evening. This is my general maintenance routine when I am not dieting for any particular reason.

I'm allergic to cardio.. LOL

I figured (for me) I can get away with a very clean diet and not have to do so much. Before my first comp (which I hadn't planned on) I had just started cardio post training. I had one full week of 45mins in the evening still came in very lean...

for my second comp I'd worked up to two one hour sessions a day 5days a week.

Right now.. for just maintence I do none but gonna keep my diet clean and make sure I track my cals and my ratios.

Its all about what will work for you. I prefer to sprint or to drag sled, hit the heavy bag etc. Just jumping on a bike or treadmill bores the heck out of me.

I usually do HIIT, mostly. I was a runner for years so sometimes I will still go on a long run. ...usually only once a week. Mostly for the theraputic value. I was really addicted to running for years - started when I did cross country in high school. I used to do a ton of milage... but then I decided that I didn't want my body to have that distance runner look. I still run for cardio but I mostly do sprints mixed with a light jog in between sprints. I usually only do about 30 minutes at a time, now. I try to do hills once a week(good for the butt) and I still get in a longer run about once a week ... but mostly for the theraputic value. I like my body much better, now. Like the other women said - Just depends on what your goals are.But don't just do cardio. Weights are important,2.Just my 2cents.
