Can you make Microsoft Word re-arange a list so that it is alpabetical???

open it with Excel and do it there

open excel, click file, open, change file type to "all" and open the word document. It will place each row in it's own cell

I've NEVER dealt with Word, just once briefly, and I have to load it up for one client ... dreading it.

I know wordperfect inside out, but word

Invalid file.........

I opened another file however and found nothing that automates alphabetizing???
in excel you "sort" by a cell

OK, try this, open the word file, select all, copy, open and excel file and paste. Then got to Data, sort and select the cell colum to sort by.

nononononono, hold on ... hold on. go into word's Help, type SORT see what it suggests.

Put it this way, if I was going to do this in Wordperfect, I'd select all the text, then create a table with one column ... then I could sort THAT file on the first word of each line. You have to create an output file that has a different name to output to.

Word's gotta have something similar.

save the file as a regular text file. When you open it in excel use delimiting option to seperate the text into individual cells. Then sort it.
