Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum and have a question about calories... I cant seem to get enough of them :(.

I am 5ft 4
Weigh 141lb
Arms 12"
Waist 31"
Chest 39"

Ive been doing various compound exersizes and want to put an inch or 2 on my arms and chest (I dont want to be huge).

An example of that I have been eating is below.

11am: 3 Weetabix with 250ml of semi skimmed milk
2pm: Tin of Tuna & 90g of Pasta
5pm: Chicken, New Potatos, Tomato

7pm: Workout

8pm: 3 Oatabix with 250ml of milk & Protein Shake
10pm: Yogurt & Bannana
midnight: Protein Shake

This comes to

174g Protien
224.5g Carbs
47.4g Fat
1992.5 Calories

I dont have tuna every day, sometimes sardines, sometimes Salmon.

I am sure that I am not getting enough calories for the goals I have set myself, does anyone have any suggestions?

I have never been a big eater and often feel full quite quickly.

Thanks

It sounds like you are on the right track diet wise. How much chicken are you eating? I know that you are eating the right foods but you need to be eating more. If you feel full quite quickly then i would suggest upping the portions as you go. Keep adding a little more each time and your appetite will grow as you grow and you will be able to devour more food.

I had the same problem eating every 2-3hrs a good sized meal. I started off with one chicken breast and a little rice. Then as i got a little bigger i needed more so i am up to 2-3 chicken breasts and a full cup of brown rice every 2-3hrs for main meals sometimes ill have some steak.

So dont feel discouraged give it time you will start to grow trust me. How long have you been working out and dieting?

Best piece of advice i can give to you is to work up to it and add a little more each time so you start eating more.

Cheers for the reply,

I have only been working out for 2 months now (not very long at all), and have only really been looking at my diet for the last 4 weeks.

I have actually lost 4lb even though I am eating more than I normally do, I have put this down to Two things though. I dont add any salt to my meals (I used to add loads), and I dont eat as much chocolate as I used to (I used to live on the stuff), although I must admit I still have a couple of small cookies a day :).

Chicken is usually one Breast portion, cant remember the size as I have none left now, I think they have 384 calories and 58g of protein but will have to confirm this tomorrow, I will probally try and fit a steak in once or twice a week, it all depends on money though.

Wow 2 months? Thats not long at all man. I lifted for quite a while living off of garbage diets and what not. While our genetics may not be the same i blew up pretty good once i tossed some chicken into the mix.

I think if you continue to train hard and heavy and like i said work at eating. Try eating a little more each time and work up your appetite and you will start growing and so will the appetite. Toss some red meat like steak in there a little heavy for a week or so and you should start blowin right up no joke.

The body weight will come and so will the lean quality muscle. Just dont get so focused on the scale and playing the numbers game. Look at what you see in the mirror as well. Just keep doing what you are doing and stay patient and hungry and you will start packin on the quality lbs man.

I was doing 5 days a week for about 70 mins with weekend off, you think this is not enough rest? Doing arms/shoulders one day and chest/back the next.

Should be enough rest for a young guy like you. If its doable you could also try what I do. Wake up eat some oatmeal and some eggs to get a lil carb and protien in ya and then like 45 mins later hit the gym. Get your workout in but do one body part like chest or back or legs or bi/tri or shoulders but only do one of those and then you can spend the rest of the day hangin out eating and soakin up the nutrients and recovering then just make sure ya get enough sleep and then wake up and do it again with a diff body part.

works for me you could try it. but yeh u should be ok with your resting you are young just like me we have a lot of natural test and with proper diet and rest we recover pretty quick.

I gained 20lbs last summer doing that so that might interest you :)

Thanks :) im no guru like some of these bros and im sure they will add comments and help u out even more but ive read a lot and i learn as i go somewhat but you should def try out what i said and lemme know how it goes
