AlbinoAssassin said:You call that ample carbs for growth! I eat 250g's pre and post workout. I eat around 1,000g's of carbs a day. Of course your body uses them for daily functioning, do you think your body is gonna pass up it's preferred fuel source to store it as glycogen. You're body's main concern is not to maintain muscle, but to maintain brain function and essential body processes. Some of it will definitely be stored as glycogen, but not enough. Lifting intensely without carbs (when attempting to bulk) is like driving a car with square tires. I just don't get it. Somebody try to help me out.
AlbinoAssassin, the statement that the body's prefered source of fuel is carbs is a false statement. The body's prefered fuel source is whatever you happen to feed the most off for a long peroid of time. The reason people in modern American seem to burn carbs as their primary fuel source is because we grew up on processed sugars, white bread, boxed cereal, soda, etc. If you switch to a keto diet for a few months, your body will accept ketosis as a natural state, and is more than happy to burn fat for most of its needs. Also bear in mind that you are NEVER burning just carb, fat or protien calories. You just burn a certain percentage of each at different times, however you are burning all three every second of your life. No trying to get into this arguement, just dispelling a common myth you stated with a little science.
