BuffaloGal's Log

Thanks for the info Treilin, and for all the good vibes girls. The brain scan came back negative, so I'm okay there. Nothin' going on in this head of my mind, which I'm sure most people already knew anyway - ha! :)

The next step is an MRI on my lumbar spine, then an EMG (nerve study) in two weeks. The only reason I wonder if it's a pinched nerve is because I have no pain at all. No tingly feeling to my foot. It just goes numb and feels like a lead brick at the end of my leg - and only the one leg. Today it's gone numb twice and sometimes I had a hard time getting my shoe on because my foot was too weak to push it in. But, I never fell or stumbled today. It's so random that occasionally I wonder if it's just me.

The only possible link is that my lower back was sore about 2-3 weeks ago for a couple of days, but then it was fine. Then I first noticed symptoms in my right leg a few days later. I didn't really even connect the two until talking to my bf tonight, but maybe that's related. I just don't know. I'm giving myself the rest of the weekend off, but then I really need to get back to working out. I feel horrible that I can't. I'm also interested to see if it aggravates my leg/back again. Kind of a mini-experiment I guess. I do stretch quite a bit as it is but probably not as much as I could: 5-10 min before and after a workout.

Oh girls, I just wish I could get back to normal soon. I hope you're enjoying all your healthy eating for me. Someone eat 5 egg whites for me! I can't wait to start chowing down on "good-for-me" food again. :chomp: Then I can start thinking about a comp next spring!! I'm sooo envious of all of you - miss you gals!

May even want to tell them about your lower back being sore if you haven't already. Referrals on everyone can be a little bit different so don't necessarily discount a pinched nerve if you don't have tingling. Can you remember what you were doing that caused your back to hurt? Does your back feel tight/stiff like you can't move it real well? Could always try icing your lower back just in case there is some inflammation in the area pressing againt a nerve root to that leg. If you just lay on your back with the ice under it, and prop your legs up on two pillows at a 90 degree angle to take the pressure off of your lower back for 15-20 minutes, can always follow it up with heat, and then do some light stretching. Just a thought...

How's everything going BG?

Everything's still status quo. Foot's been off and on, not as bad as last week but still some problems. Am still trying to get these tests done, on top of new things that have cropped up the last couple of days. I don't know whether to keep working out or not, so I've stopped for the time being and it's dragging me down in the dumps. I'm just in a funk right now. I just have to be patient and not push it but it's hard to do. Thanks for asking hun. I'll be back one of these days...

You hanging in there BG?? I am so sorry to hear about your back and foot!!

We MISS you girl and can't wait until you are back full force again!! <<HUGS>> ;)

Wow, I don't know HOW I managed to miss this! I'm sorry to hear about your foot and not being able to train. Hope you get it figured out and it's minor! :rose:
