BFL vs CKD

Ok, I am 6'2" 224lbs, i want to get to 205-210. I am not sure my body fat %, but its probably not great. I have been lifting for a few months now, and making great gains of muscle on it, but I NEED to lose BF. Which would lose LESS muscle while shredding up, BFL or CKD? I am really weary of losing the muscle I have gained because I am afraid I will be the same bf% only lower weight. Any thoughts?

Your caloric intake will have more to do with how much muscle you keep than the type of diet. Whether you choose BFL or CKD, if you cut your calories too low you will burn some muscle. I seem to be one of the few left on these boards who don't automatically point every single new person to a CKD so I'd personlly rather see you do a BFL type diet. Face it, no one is going to run a CKD for the rest of their life, however a BFL diet can be used to eat pretty healthfully for as long as you want. I'd rather see you just eat like BFL suggests and lose the fat that way so you will learn how to eat cleanly when you want. If you go CKD you will have a rougher time coming off of it and may put some fat back on, on top of not knowing how to eat cleanly when you do come off of it.

BFL is not a perfect diet but it will get you to where you want without resorting to extreme measures, ala CKD. I lost most of my initial weight with a BFL type of plan. I eventually changed it up but I'd still prefer it over a CKD.

Thanks

Thanks for the info, I have had success with both, but I never really got into working out until lately, so muscle loss was not as much of an issue, my biggest problem is that I need to lose my spare tire. I re read thru BFL book and noticed he says nothing about fat except it is good 3x a week, but I thought 25-30% was the best level? Any thoughts? What did you do differently on your BFL type?

If you mean what the book says about fat intake it generally says to keep it low, however if you look at his food choices they aren't fat free. He recommends lean red meats, peanut butter(in shakes), salmon, etc... His basic idea is to simply eat like he says and the fat intake will come on it's own, don't intentionally attempt to add fat. If you would like to add flax or something I'd suggest dropping half the protein portion on that meal or drop it completely.

Personally I just followed what it said and added no extra fats and the weight flew off just fine.
