I used to be a regular on here, didnt post so much tho, but at the start of this year I went away travelling. Bodybuilding has long been my favourite hobby (been into in several years and done several cycles), and whilst travelling I still tried to maintain my physique, but as you can imagine it didnt stay perfect! But I did train and eat well whenever possible.

Anyway in June I was in New Zealand and had a big accident in which I broke my back. I have been home since it happened but unable to weight train, I have recently been told I can do light cardio, ideally on elliptical/bike machines. I havent really been given a time scale that I can return to training in, but would imagine it is before Christmas.

I am really not sure on what sort of a diet plan I should be following. I used to be religious with my diet and would pretty much eat the same thing everyday, but now that weightlifting isnt yet part of my training, what sort of stuff should I be eating?

Right now I just seem to be eating loads of carbs! I have no problems sticking to whatever diet is best suited for me, but would feel like it was perhaps a bit unnecessary going back to tun/quark/chicken/wwheat pasta & bread/red meat etc al day!

I am doing the cardio to get fit and try to shift some of the fat which has built up in my midsection, but want to be on the best diet possible to prepare me for returning to serious weight training.

Any help is much appreciated.. many thanks

right now there is nothing more worth while for you than a healthy diet. this means a lean protein, large veggie serving with every meal throw in some complex carbs in a couple of them and eat healthy fats between meals, something like a handful of nuts. drink plenty of water and take a multi v. i would eat 4-6 meals per day.

great thanks for the tips. why only complex carbs in some of them? if I eat meals containing just protein and veg dont you think they'd be rather dull - can you suggest anything?

cheers

get creative with the veggies. some evoo a little seasoning and mayba a little pasta go a long way.

clean diets are boaring thats for shore. just keep it as healthy as you can and still enjoy your food.
