Arnold's "Basic" Training

TheOak84 said:
just imagine if Arnold himself saw this thread as a member... wouldnt that be awesome... He'd prolly laugh and say something like " HAHA Dose Idiots" in his austrian voice, haha, I only wish;)

lol, prolly. the fact is none of know the exact truth about what Arnold did to get as big as he was.

Besides genetics, and steroids, it's fairly easy to see why Arnold was/is as great as he is. He has incredible drive, determination and an iron will. Where others would make excuses, Arnold would find ways to get the job done. He will do anything, and everything to get things taken care. He never just pisses and moans about crap, he does something about it. He applies this to all in his life, business, bodybuilding, movies, etc, etc, etc., etc.

He has accomplished so much in life because of his great outlook. He came here with nothing, couldn't even speak english, and now he is one of the highest paid stars in Hollywood, a former champion bodybuilder (who is still the ideal for almost all, some 25 years after retiring.), business man, and potential politician.

His drive is what makes him great. He actually applies himself. It's the same with all people who accomplish great things. They stop at nothing, and never give up.

*Very good point.*

I couldn't agree more.

Arnold

Arnold had incredible genetics. For a normal person that routine would quickly lead to severe overtraining, especially if you arent juicing.

"You cant learn how to train a racehorse by asking the racehorse"

i personally dont think Arnold trained the same way he explained it in his book, thats just insane.. but when i think about it, his muscles had awesome definiiton and his cuts were so deep... so maybe that kind of long intense trainig didnt lead to the best muscle growth but to muscle perfection, to him at least.. also remember he said in Pumping Iron, his body is as perfect as it can get, he doesnt have any weak points and there is nothin thats gonna stop him from winning... well, whats done is done, Arnolds the best no matter what way he trained...

I love the stories about Arnolds calve training.

He once had terrible calves, but he beat them to a pulp to make them grow. I like that. . . 50 sets of calves!! I also read somewhere that Arnold used to do 1 hours worth of calve training. He ended up with 21 inch calves.

I remember reading that when he first came to America, he only had an upper body. He made himself start wearing only short pants so that he'd have true motivation to build up his legs, so that others wouldn't have to see a huge upper body supported by a couple twigs, lol. That takes stones.

That's a matter of bodyfat and shape which is determined by genetics. Though that book is so full of misinformation that I'm sure it explains how to do "muscle defining" exercises.

You can make a muscle grow, or you can make it smaller. I believe some steroids make it harder, but I don't know much about that.

His thighs may not have been huge, but back then it was all about a huge upper body, huge calf's and 'athletic' thighs. Just like today it's all about the huge thighs. It was the way it was back then.
agreed....but thats the only thing I disliked about the oak's physique
