If I absolutely need something and don't have my regular post workout shake then I might have one -- I'm just as likely to stop and buy a quart of chocolate milk too.
Based on studies done with olympic gymnasts, who are likely in a more catabolic state than bbers, proper post workout nutrition is going to come in at about .8 gr carb/kg + .4 gr protein/kg. For a 220-lb individual, this equates to 80 gr/carbs, 40 protein. I use a 35% CFM whey isolate/65% dextrose blend or a 20% CFM + 20% rice protein/60% dextrose blend post workout. These formulations provide the appropriate carb/protein ratio, are fast acting and have virtually no fat.
Another thing, FDA requires all RTDs to be boiled, so it completely denatures protein content. You get a bare-bones protein supp with any RTD.
