You are strong enough to compete...maybe not win but you can compete.
I'd say go and have fun and get some experience. Remember, we all start at different places and it's not where you start but where you finish.
One piece of advice. Call the meet director or the WNPF National office and talk to them about the rules.
1) Find out what their rules of perfomance are for each lift. Competition lifts are different than gym lifts. For example, there are commands you must obey in the squat or the lift wont count. In the bench, you must stop the bar on your chest, etc.
Learn the rules ahead of time and practice them so you won't make mistakes on meet day.
2) Find out what is legal to wear. Knee wraps, wrist wraps, belt, squat suit, bench shirt etc. For example, a belt with a velcro fastener is not allowed in most meets. Neither are knee wraps with velcro. If you are going to wear any gear at all make sure you have time to get used to it. Most things will change your groove and you don't want to add something new on meet day.
Good luck and welcome to the club!
Oh, I'd say go 220s! You are better off at the top of the 220s than at the bottom of the 242s. Many of the 242s will train at a heavier weight and come down to 242 for the meet. The only time it helps to be lighter is if you tie someone else, then the higher placing goes to the guy that weighed in lighter.
