20 reps of squats?

ive been reading around the place that people looking to add some serious size/strenght on their legs should experiment with 2x20 squats, with w/o spread like, tue & thu, then following wed.

if this is so, what sort of weight should you be going for? im guessing your normal max would be too much, so like,, 80%? 70%? what ever works?

I wouldn't do them 3 times a week... once a week is max for legs if you are seriously training.

I added 2 sets of 20 rep squats or 20 rep leg press after Spatts and Night Fly redid my leg routine. I've had a lot of bad leg injuries in my life... so I've been working up hill to put on leg size. (Oddly, my legs are very strong... but size doesn't come easy.)

Adding the 20 rep sets definitely seemed to be the icing on the cake. I went up 1 1/2 inches on leg size. granted... I was taking 2 grams of test a week with it... but I'm always on juice... so proper training is what really makes the difference.

My goal now is to get my thighs to the same size as Spatts'.

You don't do ALL of your sets at 20 reps.... just a couple.

I do 5x5 of squats... then 2x6 on the hacks... the 2x20 on the leg press.
 
I've been doing 1x20rep squats at the end of my leg workouts for acouple of weeks now and it seems to be putting mass on pretty fast....

I was surprised to find that too. I added the high rep sets and BOOM... size came.
 
I do em every other leg workout which workouts to once every TWO weeks.

You'll have to actually do em I think to judge the weight, so different from a max attempt or even a 10-rep set. If 20 doesnt have you at near collapse add weight. You should be very near failure at 15 reps. Have to dig deep, take some breaths and grind out the last 3-5.

Really push em for max effect, to me the best way to grow legs...

No the idea is to go heavy and force yourself to bang out 20.

These sets are $$$$$$$
