@ Work Meals..?

So I have a new job, and unfortunately I dont have a private desk or the ability to freely snack and eat throughout the day. HELP!

What are some fast great snacks and meals for a workplace like this? This is all new to me (to not have freedom to eat at work). I have apples i eat in the morning, and almonds for a snack in the afternoon...but other than that I am drawing a blank.

Any ideas?? :Chef: Thanks!

I don't know if you are like in a service job or just a desk in a public area- I pack 5 meals in a cooler w/ an ice pack. If you don't have access to heat stuff, that's fine, I often didnt' either. I just put a meal of protein, fibrous carb / fat or complex carb all in 1 tupperware per meal. Keep a couple forks & just shovel it down when its refueling time. Protein shakes are also a good option. I keep 1 serving of protein mix in a ziplock baggy so I don't have to measure it, then dump it in a shaker or tupperware drink bottle w/ water, shake & chug.

This sounds lame but it works. Get a small cooler and make some food the night before. You can put all sorts of things in there peanuts, oats, chicken breast sandwiches, and RTD etc.
Luckily, I am self employed and have a nice refridgerator to store things in.

Good luck!

I have brown rice cakes, almonds and a bottle of flax oil at my desk all the time. I then use cooked chicken breasts and veggies that I get daily to make complete meals of carbs/protein or carbs/fat. My office is air-conditioned so the chicken breasts seem to stay fine during the day. You can also probably do tuna/salmon in a pouch in place of the chicken or whey shakes.

I would not have fruit or veggies without a protein/fat source with it. Alone, it will NOT "hold you over" until the next meal.

Apple or celery w/ Natty PB already spread on it
Baby carrots w/ cheese
Bagged protein pancakes
RTD protein shake, or pre-mixed protein shake
Homemade protein bars
Yogurt or cottage cheese w/ granola or flaxseed mixed in
All nuts - can even mix in with raisins

Of course w/ the consideration that I think in terms of competition dieting, the term "snack freely during the day" is absolute diet suicide for me. I have my scheduled meals packed w/ the scheduled carb /protein / fats & calories in each. I pack all this the night before (even weigh stuff) and that, along w/ at least 8 x 24 oz water during the day is what I eat. No more, no less.

When I was doing comps - I didn't have the energy to cook all the time so got used to eating my cooked foods cold....and now still actually like it....

I like cold:
chicken + sweet potato
cooked brown rice + tuna
chicken + green beans

and not ice cold but room temp....and they are actually good.....so set up a container with it the nite before & munch away!
