Will I catch heat through Customs?

I got a question that nobody will probably be able to answer but what the hell!!! I was charged with simple poss. back in march when customs seized an order of mine?? (for more details look in the "Charged with Simple Poss. What to expect in court?" thread) Well, the charges were retired and all that good stuff and i'm currently serving an unsupervised probation term!! My question is, I have plans to travel out of the country twice this summer and i was wondering if i will catch any heat when i go through customs???

Before any flaming starts, i have okayed the plans with my probation officer, who in turn okayed them with the judge, so everybody knows where i will be and when??? I don't personally care if they seize my bags and search them because im not even thinking about trying anything funny!! (But one of the trips is to Mexico??) I just don't want my family to get caught up with anything, as they will be traveling with me (having their things searched too, or having to wait for ten hours and miss the flight, something of that nature)??? my lawyer is looking into the issue, but i just thought i'd ask around before i heard back from him!!!

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!!

I don't know from personal experience but i have read that if custom's seizes something with your name on it you possibly could get looked at harder when you go out of the country or when you come back in. When i read this it never said that anyone was held for a long time but some had been asked many more question's. I'm guessing that mexico would be one of the countries that if a problem was to happen that would be it. This article i read was last year though so it very well could have changed by now. Good luck,i'm guessing you should be cool though.

I can almost assure u that you'll get heat as well as your family. Everytime that you want to re-enter into the U.S a criminal record of the charges will pop up in the INS agent's computer screen. They will question you thoroughly and you'll have wait right there in front of the agent who will be looking for any kind of signs of hesitation or nervouseness. They have a procedure called "secondary inpsection" which is not likely to happen unless anything from suspiscious behavior or body language flags the INS agents at the airport. When you are being taken care of, it is likely that the INS agent is gonna ask you about the charges and what happened, you'll have to be honest and tell him the truth. People I know has gone through the same hassle and it is a pain in the ass. According to them, sometimes they have been lucky, the agents would ask about the charges and let'em go through. But they also say that there have been times where if the agents feel like giving you a hard time they will no matter what. I'm not gonna enter into detail, but INS gave'em hard time for charges as old as more than 8 years. And yes they have missed flights and got their vacation ruined a couple of times. Maybe you'll get better luck!!
