I actually just brought this up to my husband....he got kind of pissed

one of his first "missions" in khadamiyah was to collect iraqi corpses in school buses and lay them out for family to collect..ones that weren't collected were washed, wrapped, and put into mass graves
he had some other shit to say but I won't lay them out here for ridicule


also..I was going to add, medical centers (clinics) are set up as well as medical "patrols" to treat anyone on the other side that wishes to be treated and is willing to go through a security check.

eta: from a practical standpoint you want to manage corpses in a manner that will prevent your own troops from getting sick anyway

You don't defile the dead...There is an unspoken pact to retrieve your dead and give then a proper burial; When that doesn't happen and their corpses are desecrated...

I'm not condemning the marines, I'm sure that wasn't the first time it happened, but soldiers/marines need to cling to some basic morality; It was wrong and everybody involved knew it. If they didn't, they're just as animalistic as the Taliban fighters they urinated on.
