Kevin Sites is a Piece of Shit

So, then if he is all goody to the Marines and such, then why is he making them comments about who he presumes would be more dangerous than another? Why offer up your opinion such as his. I don't care how much tape he shot, or how many buildings he went into. He did not lose brothers in arms. Also, just because they were from the day before does not mean they were no longer a threat.

The fact that they were left alone ungaurded means they would be dangerous again utnil proven otherwise.

I still stand by my statements. Offering to with hold the tape? Why didn't he just keep it? He owns the video rights to it. He did not have to give it out, but he did. Again, he could have allowed the tape to be aired and withheld his personal observations, but he didnt'. That is what pisses me off. Not that he shot the video, but that he interjected his own biased opinion of what he saw or thought he saw.

I'm with you dude. People shouldn't be allowed to give thier opinions. Freedom of speech is overrated anyway.

i'm not sure where this notion comes from that journalists can't (or shouldn't) offer anything which even remotely resembles opinion. probably some place that common sense abandoned long ago.

An opinion is one thing, but he felt like a crime may have been committed and giving your opinion and then stating that you know the facts better because your some tag along reporter is wrong. He can give all the opinion he wants after the facts have been investigated.

your right freeom of speech is over rated when it is abused. Take Geraldo for example. Good practice of freedom of speech. Let me draw the world a map with our battle plans on it. He was only giving his opinion wasn't he?

I would die for a Marine, would Sites? Would he intentionally take a round for a Marine or Soldier? Would he prefer to die so that his fellow reporters can continue on? I wonder?

btw,the quote isn't nature boys. It's site's letter title
what a dumbass

The reporter was there as an observer. He saw something, reported it and gave an account of what happend. I doubt he's out to slander the Marines or inflame the Arabs in the region - man's just doing his job.

War is fucked up...things like this happen. I am glad it was filmed and broadcast - civilians need to see whats going on over there, no matter how ugly it is.

And for the record, I don't think the Marine in question should be punished.

Marines shoot insurgent who was 'playing dead'

The US military says Marines in Fallujah have shot and killed an insurgent who engaged them as he was faking being dead, a week after footage of a marine killing an apparently unarmed and wounded Iraqi caused a stir in the region.

"Marines from the 1st Marine Division shot and killed an insurgent who while faking dead opened fire on the marines who were conducting a security and clearing patrol through the streets," a military statement said.

The point-blank shooting on November 13 of a wounded Iraqi was caught on tape and beamed around the world.

It raised questions about the degree of military restraint and fanned Arab resentment.

The marine was withdrawn from combat and an investigation launched.

Military sources had said that the rules of engagement were looser during the operation launched in Fallujah, for fear that rebels would be disguised, fake death or wear suicide explosives belts.

The US military and Iraqi government troops are still carrying house-to-house searches in the rebel bastion but two weeks after it was launched, the largest post-Saddam military operation in Iraq is all but over.

According to US military figures, more than 1,200 insurgents have been killed in the intense fighting, as well as 51 US troops and eight Iraqi personnel.

Dude, the guy is just giving his opinion, it's not like he's the judge in the case. Would you be slamming him if his opinion was favorable towards the marine killing the dude???

I'm missing you on the whole Geraldo thing. What did he do? I didn't hear about it. Anyway.

You're 3rd paragraph is honorable and all, and I respect you for what you say, but it doesn't have really anything to do with the issue of what Sites did.
