Kevin Sites is a Piece of Shit

I would die for a Marine, would Sites? Would he intentionally take a round for a Marine or Soldier? Would he prefer to die so that his fellow reporters can continue on? I wonder?

It's not Sites' job to die for a Marine. It's his job to report what he sees. It is, in fact, a Marine's job to die for Sites. Well for the American Way, part of which is the right to free speech.

Don't want that job? Don't become a Marine. Desert. Do whatever it takes so you can sleep at night.

chesty ever heard this quote?:

"I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

cant second guess yourself in war..will come home in a body bag...i didnt know this would be sucka big deal...he was better off dead anyways

i support the marines all the way......

He's a civilian reporter....what dumbass would expect him to take a round for a Marine???

Opinions are like assholes everybody has one. But when your opinion can get someone executed for murder then it is no longer just an opinion.

My point is this. He lauds free speech, freedom of the press, blah, blah, blah. But is he willing to die for that supposed conviction of the 1st Amendment so that his fellow reporters can continue to enjoy that freedom?

He should not have said anything. He should have turned the tape over to the military so that they could decide whether or not anything was done wrong. Now because of his irresponsible reporting this Marine may very well be hung out to dry when he shouldn't have been. How many Marines will be injured or die because this Marine was pulled from combat?

Again, I have nothing against reporters shooting footage during combat. But you also have to have responsibility for what you say. He didn't. He knew full well how his comments would be taken.

Let's say he is given some sort of award. Say the Pulitzer Prize, if he is true about what he says in his follow on letter, he will turn it down. In fact, he will not allow himself to be considered for the award for that piece of footage.
Thing is though, he won't.

On one of the nights of the initial War for Baghdad, Geraldo sat down in the dirt and drew a map of Iraq, and some cities, named them, marked the spots of where the US troops were, drew lines indicating the direction of their attack, the time the attack would happen, the strength of the units, etc. All this while being filmed live by his camera crew.

Reporters reporting responsibly? He should have been shot on the spot for treason, and more. That is another worthless piece of shit.

Still, you're right. Quite irresponsable.

what the fuck does that have to do with anything?
it has to do with the desired mindset and understanding of a patriot, volunteer marines expendability. put simply, the needs of the many supercede the needs of the few. chesty has some strong ideas, this concept is pivotal in much of what he has been saying. you might think that it is mere sophistry, but i rather think that chestys justifications and mindset have some fundamental cracks, and id like to tease them open a bit more

its not that subtle, really, if you think about it a little youll see my point

well I watched it live and he sat right there and drew the map out and gave times and and other pertinent information. So that report is not quite accurate. If someone can find the actual video let's get it and play it. I am sure I am mostly right, but that 3 or 4 minutes could have cost hundreds of lives or more.

Not to mention, didn't Geraldo do some reporting in Vietnam? I seem to remember footage of him being wounded and wanting the cameraman to film his injury. If that is then he already knew what he was allowed to report on.

Besides, common sense even lets the idiot know you don't tell the enemy, location, time, size, strength, etc.

chesty is there even a remote chance that the Marine in question will fry?

If so I would argue that the military justice system is what's fucked up.

chesty,

do you not agree that what the Marine did was wrong?

I'm trying to figure out where we disagree here.
