Whats the problem?

Hey everyone, I'm new to the site I have a question I am hoping someone can answer. I am 5'2 weighing 157lbs but I am not fat, no flab flat stomach. Why am I weighing so much? According to statistic I am obese but I look no where near obese or overweight. Why? :heart:
 
Most professional athletes are considered "obese" by those standards - the calculations make no distinction between muscle mass and fat mass - and are designed to assess the typical (i.e., non-athletic) person.

If you aren't a little chunky, then you are truly a physical specimen. A femal at your size could easily compete.........don't sweat it....get your bf tested and if it's above average (althetic is what < 16% for a female? 20%?, I'm not sure.......) then keep on truckn baby!
 
Granted I have a little extra meat but I am not flabby at all nothing jiggles on me. I was getting nervous when I read the stats. I feel that I just am not losing weight but I can tell that I lose inches. Is that a good thing? when I tell people my weight they tell me its impossible for me to be that high.Thanks guys for all your help As soon as I get a pic on this computer Ill post it as for now its a new laptop and i have no pics on here. :heart:

Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you have low body fat with a good amount of muscle then you will weigh more.....Don't go by weight or the # on the scale -- get your bf tested and that will be a better indication. Also go by how you look and how your clothes fit cuz you can LOSE clothing sizes and weigh a heavier amount.....

Very very healthy bf for a female is below 24% and under 17% or so is very lean/athletic....

You can get it tested by calipers at a gym and try to get the 7 point test, while not 100% accurate, you can be close. Also, a local large college may offer hydrostatic testing (underwater), you would need to call to ask.

Also, check out the Women's board on this site -- a wealth of training & diet info just for us women!! Lots of info over there......
