What temperature do you cook a steak at on an electric stove?

I like my steaks medium. On a BBQ it's not too big of a deal to get this right.

However, on my electric stove I just can't seem to figure it out. I like pink in the middle but sometimes it looks like the middle was never cooked.

Anyway, what temp do you set the stove at when you're cooking a steak? Any general timing rules?

My attempts usually turn out tasting good (usually a hint overcooked though, I always seem to leave it on just a little too long), but a few pointers would be nice.

Maybe cook it a little in the microwave before putting it on the stove.

If not, then I would cook it between low and medium so you won't char the outside.

Yeah broiling works better...but if you are intent on cooking them on the stove top...them you need to cook low heat and slow...this gives the center sufficient time to get hot or pink...whatever you want to call it, without the outside burning

I'll sometimes use a cast iron skillet and sear the steak, but I like it raw inside. You're best with medium low, depending on the cut and thickness.
