isolating portions of the pec major in training?

there was like a total of 40 pages of scientific debate and flame wars about this on another site....

both sides seem to have good arguments, some prominent people behind them, and so called proof....

so can you, or can you not change the SHAPE of the pec major by training in any specific way? so not its size, or its definition by losing bodyfat, but its shape. im not talking about training the serratius (spell check) or the minor to make it look different either...

can you or not?

yeah i agree. i think what matters is what you feel in the gym. if you feel that some exercise hits a different part better than another exercise, great, use that. and those that dont feel it, ok, use that.

I think everybody feels their lower pec more when declining than when inclining, in fact im quite sure. however that doesn`t mean you can change its shape. different movements can be used to optimally have the muscle grow imo. but not change the shape.

Shape of pecs. Slightly changeable.
(If you do incline bench only, your lower pecs will not be good)

I think that doing many exercises to stimulate "different" parts of the chest would make your chest bigger than just doing few exercises.

id be interested to read the scientific debate and who these prominent people are. could you p.m. me the link?

i'd like to read some of the scientific arguments vs. some of the experienced based replies that you will get over here.

i believe you are referring to isolating certain portions (inner/outer etc) instead of upper mid or lower. correct?

Can you change genetics - no.

Can you change the "shape"(not meaning origins and insertions) - most definitely.

Without a doubt.
