I introduced my sister to bodybuilding this year and she lost about 8 lbs of fat while putting on a little bit of muscle and strength but she kept seeking the easy way out and she kept whining about how she likes the junk food and etc and shes been off for months now and back where she was and maybe worse.

I`m so disappointed she really was enjoying training (she still trains, but doesn`t diet or make progress)

Shes pretty much just saying she doesn`t have the discipline. it pisses me off. i wanted to make a competitor out of her :)

I totally agree...

You could try honoring her goals, and by that I mean accepting that they differ from yours. "Make a competitor out of her?" She sounds more like a pet project than a sister! ;)

People will not make progress if they don't want to do it...Sounds like your pushing your own goals on her. Maybe you should just let her alone to do whatever she wants to do...even if it is something you don't want for her.

...on her or him?

Good point! You could put a collar on both and he shocks her to eat right and she shocks him cause she doesn't want to, then they just both run around in pain. Sounds like good cardio to me!

Does that electric shock therapy really work...?? :) I might use it on myself every time I have a craving....

Really though, you can't make someone want to do something. If she doesn't want to make the sacrifices, nobody can make them for her - or make her want to make them. It's frustrating. Just keep trying to motivate and support her in a positive way. Sometimes the more you push someone, the more they will resist. Just let her knwo that if she ever has questions or needs help/advice, you'll be there.

She has to want it. Attitude is the number one determining factor between winners and losers, those who achieve their goals and those who do not, etc.

To be rather blunt, you can't make her do shit she doesn't want to.

You can always try the "positive challenge" approach... I dont' know if she lives near you or could eat on your schedule - but you could share your eating and training schedule with her and see if she "gets into it". Also you can reiterate that goals are only achieved if you stick to the plan.... as I OFTEN have to remind myself - if I want to stop bitching about the size of my ass, I need to stop bitching about the training or the diet.

Basically, if she doesn't want care about the results, then she isn't going to be interested in pursuing the goals. IF, however, she wants to lose bf and see some strength gains, you can challenge her to stay clean for 3 weeks and see if she can lose 2% bf or drop 5 lbs or increase her lifts by 10 lbs --- some small, short-term, measurable improvement.

If you really care about her, you should tell her that you don't care if she never competes or even weight trains, but PLEASE eat a healthy diet so she doesn't end up a fat lump of diabetic, arthritic, artery clogged, crappy looking, crappy feeling, drugged out, depressed, short lived piece of impoverished humanity.

Competitive weight training/bodybuilding is for masochists. A good diet is for everyone.
