a young kid in my subdivision got laid off and he seen me doing pullups in my garage and asked me what i thought of his idea.
he now has plenty of time to train as he just lost his job. he was asking if doing exercises morning afternoon and evening was a good idea. hell, i didnt know.
to each his own i guess.
he wants to do pullups in the morning . a hard workout of those. then later on at lunch, 4 hours later do deadlifts or rows. then in the evening do another curls. take off the next day, then do some benches in the am, at noon do some mil presses and dinner time do dips or something else. rest the next day and do legs in the am and calfs at lunch and abs at dinner etc etc
i saidtry it. as long as you eat well and rest,
cause theres really no workouts in stone. trial and error i guess.
he said he'll do a more intense workout knowing all he has is pullups and nothing for 4 hours later. instead of trying to cram in 5-6 exercises in an hours time.
3-4 sets pullups, 3 sets dealifts3sets curls spaced out in a 12 hour day..
who knows.

That is how olympic atheletes and soldiers train. If you have the time, I think that is the best way to train. Make sure he is eating a SHIT ton of food and protein though.

BUT it takes years to build up to that kind of volume and stress!

If this guys is new to regimented training, then it's got to be just one workout a day for a few months otherwise at the very least his nervous system will crap out.

He def should not try to hit back 3 times a day and then do pressing 3 times the next - much better to do leg/push/pull.

One way to build up the volume would be to start by using completely unchallenging weights, but really ramp the volume up - then slowly add weight as you learn to tolerate the time under stress. Forget about stuff like curls or tricep extensions - you'll need to do compound stuff or your joints will get sore and your insertions inflamed.

Dense nutrients like animal fats and sugary fruits will really help too.

Olympic Athletes and Soldiers are not massive.

Olympic Athletes aren't doing chins, rows, curls, bench, etc... They are doing technical lifts. Big difference.

I'd have him train once a day and spend the rest of his day looking for a job.
