Last week I went to see my dietician because of High Cholesterol (too many whole eggs and red meat diet!) and he flinched big time when he heard my diet description. Adding all up, it was a total of 220 grms of protein per day. He warned me of kidney problems, and said that the protein intake is 1 gr. per Kg. of body weight and NOT per lb. like I had heard and read all along. Iwas told to avoid red meats, such as pork, steaks, and just go for lean stuff such as poultry, fish, beans, soy milk, white eggs, etc.,etcc.
I weight 183 lbs. right now.
Please, experts outhere:
What the real scoop on this protein intake per kg. or lb. of body weight. ??????
What about kidney problems????
