Too many proteins?!

I recently went from using powder containing 25g of protein to powder containing 40g of proteins.
I did not change my diet but still I realize I'm not that lean anymore. I feel like bloated and my six packs are not that visible anymore.
Can it be that too may proteins can make you gain fat?

Thanks

By how many grams of protein did you increase your daily consumption? Protein can be converted into fat but it's a very inefficient process. What type of protein did you switch from and too? Are you lactose intolerant? Going to a very low lactose whey isolate to a concentrate can increase your symptoms of lactose intolerance, smoothing and bloating being two that I experience.

Too much of anything will make you fat (except water) :)

Too much protein will only be bad if it results in too many calories.....other than that. any amount of protein your body doesn't need with be converted to glucose through metabolic processes

Agree

BTW, let's say you take 100 calories of proteins that your body doesn't "need"

Will it be converted to 100 calories of glucose ?
Or, is gluconeogenesis "burning" some of those calories to convert P into CHO ?

I guess it is the later but how much is used for the conversion ? 0.1% ? 1% ? more ?

I went from Isolated Soy (GNC protein 95) with 25 grams of protein and 9 grams of carbs, to Mega Whey, with 40 grams of whey protein, 5 grams of free-form glutamine and 3 grams BCAA. Calories wise, I went from a serving of 150 calories to 210.
Thanks so much for your reply

It's simple math........

You are eating/drinking "more" than before, so it's obvious you should cut down on the size of your shakes. Nothing mind-boggling here. :)
