Thoughts on Accessories and Supplements

Hi all,

As recently posted, I'm looking to improve my physical fitness for athletic and aesthetic performance, and I'm looking for advice on supplements and accessories.

I don't want any part of steroids or PEDs of that sort.

I have heard of Force Factor, and that athletes are using this and it really works as some sort of oxide supplement? Anyone know about it? [Keep in mind, I'm playing a sport and I am not looking to be a bodybuilder]

Also, do you suggest getting gloves for callused hands?
What about a back brace to make sure of no spinal injuries?
Weighted vest for resistance?

My corresponding thread should be somewhere on the list near this post as well if you're looking to see my current routine [I'd LOVE some advice on that too!]

Thanks a lot everyone!

Right now you don't need any supplements except for a tub of whey protein and a tub of casein protein.

Gloves impede your grip, reduce your tactile awareness and are for pussies. You should invest in a good weight belt, preferrably leather and 4" all the way around (6" if you're tall) to be used for heavy deadlifts, squats and overhead presses.

A weighted vest would be useful for weighted pushups and chins, but free weights are your best friend.

I wouldn't have asked about gloves except I play lacrosse and having calluses on my hands doesn't help because I cut the leather out of the palms in my gloves for grip, and having smooth, hard skin is less grippy than the leather originally was... But I'll take your word for it.

I just turned 18, I'm about 6'1 1/2 and 160.

Also I'm looking to get that back brace thing ASAP, anyone have a link to one I can order? My size is 6'1 160 and I'm willing to spend basically whatever considering my gym membership is already like 75$ a month.

IMO that or any back brace is counter productive. The reason is this. You simply loose the muscle strength that you have cuz the brace take all the strain. So in fact you open yourself up to back injuries. Nix the brace.

he's right about the protein. if you have a good workout habit & you don't get the results you want, your not taking in enough protein. Try 3 shakes a day at 150 grams each plus regular meals & watch yourself grow beyond belief.
