Teardrop

High End Bro

hey guys i need your help

Hannibal had a great response to the thread about triceps

he listed exercises that improved the lower part of my tricep.... which has made my arms grow incredibly and has increased bench and military press 3 fold

is there anything to help with the teardrop or sweep as its called in bodybuilding...... im talking about the lower part of the quad......it has to benifit just as much for thigh as it did in tricep.

pls help a young brother out

thanks guys

teardrops

Hey man, I had the same problem about half a year ago until I was told to go super slow on the negative on leg extensions. Go lighter than normal or else it "might" hurt your knee. I went light for awhile but increased the weight back up. This really helped pop up my two tears!!

Hope the best for ya bro!!

:D

thanks whiskey

i was hoping for some type of power exercise to help.....

i dont even do leg extensions right now because im in the meat of my powerlifting training...... so i try not to do any isolation.........

bump for any other ideas?

IMO...you are working around the wrong side of the knee. The quads do little for squatting. If you are training to be a powerlifter then the posterior chain is the most important. The back side of your body is where your power comes from. Instead of worrying about the quads spend that time training the hamstrings, gluts, and hips. That's where the strength is.

yep, your hams pull you out of the hole...........

Two years ago i dislocated my kneecap when i was pushed by someone.

Normally peoples knees dont dislocate....but the genetics i have blessed me with knees that bow in.
my VMO/sweep/teardrop, has to be overly large and powerful than my outerquad to keep my kneecap from moving across my knee and being implanted somewhere on the side of my leg.

From my understanding, the VMO is very essential in tracking the knee cap. if the tracking doesnt happen minor damage will occur and some pain/ache's and popping etc will occur.

I am experimenting at the moment with different feet placement whilst squating. The one that seems to be working for my body is wide feet(wide.....compaired to a body builders stance) with the toes......not straight ahead but pointing out.

Also i have tried cyclist squats. with a piece of two by four under my heals and my feet 6 inchs apart with toes straight ahead. I have had great success so far.

On elite fitness systems i have read that louie uses a wheel barrow filled up with rocks. He pushes it up a steady incline as part of GPP.

Ill be giving that a shot in a couple weeks time.

I think if you are interested in the teardrop thing then you are really on the wrong board. Get the back of your body strong and powerful. If your knees are bowing in then your hip strnegth is bad. Dragging a sled will cure you of that.

1-dawg i respect what you say but...

go easy...... i do both..... i powerlift and bodybuild

im better at the powerlifing and was one 5 years before i took up bodybuilding.

i know which board was which

but like what i said about hannibal's post on triceps

i had a very small lower tricep....... what he recomended made it grow like a weed and my strength went crazy

i have 29 inch thighs and 22 inch's around the teardrop and it looks quite odd

when im at the bottom of a squat...... its my tear drop that feels like its giving out.....

i didnt post this on the bodybuilding board because all they will recomend is leg extensions...... i dont do that crap as listed above......right now im powertraing and powerlifting getting ready for a contest in december

my legs dont bow...... i have never had that problem before

my hips and glutes are as strong as anything..... (i do have a weak set of erectors........old squat injury)...

i dont feel the pain in my hips and glutes as much as i should becuase the teardrop cant support the weight that my hips and glutes can.

i know about where strength and power comes from....

i memorized the quote from Westside's, Louie:

"You can't tell if a man is strong by looking at him from the front...... you must look at him from the back"

or something close to that.

i as you guys on this board because i use power traing techniques only....... even when im bodybuilding..... so i listen to you guys for strength tips more than any others........... more strength means more muscle..... so please help a fellow iron freak out.

thanks again

No problem -- it was just a little needling. You may also want to check your form -- are your knees moving out over your toes?? Are you squatting wiht somehting under your heals? If so, quit. Something like that will cause soreness in that area. I still think it's your hips, glute andhamstring area. No you may not feel pain there but these are your squatting muscles, they keep everything mvoing the right direction. Weak hips will cause a knee problem somewhere down the road. what happens if the "good" squat muscles(hips, glute, hams) are weak they will force other, less advantageuos groups to take over(quads). When you squat with mainly quads you are forcing your knees to movin the wrong dir. I may be completely out in left field but this is waht I think based on experiences.

man that makes sense

thanks i appreciate it a lot

question........ what is the best thing to do to strenghten up hams..........

like i said about the old back injury......... it makes me weak on squats.... but im still a force to berecokoned with on leg press.........

what do you recomend?
