Sugar and Glucose the same ?

Hiya.

I was wondering...

If I take a cup of sugar or a cup dextrose will the results be the same in the sense of spiking the bloodsugar levels after a workout ?

No table sugar is sucrose, which = 1/2 fructose, 1/2 glucose.

Sucrose GI is actually medium, where glucose is 100.

Basically, PWO you want to replenish muscle glycogen. In this regard, sucrose is 1/2 empty calories, as fructose replenishes liver glycogen preferentially, and by spiking uric acid, has a greater tendency for your liver if full of liver glycogen to create fatty deposits in your body.

Hence, sucrose is a bad choice - for quick carbs, malto, glucose, and waxy are No 1 (waxy being No 1 choice here). Of real food, white potatoes, bread or rice > sucrose
