whats the bottom line?

is read meat THAT much better than chicken, eggs, MRP's, fish for muscle repair/growth?

and am i shorting my potential by NOT consuming a juicey steak once a day?

Red Meat is more calorie dense than chicken and eggs...... It has more B vitamins than chicken and eggs. and it has creatine and CLA in it.

I prefer steaks, make sure they are lean cut ... but apparentley eggs have the highest absorption rate of all the proteins. It sucks though that you have to eat so many to get an adequate amount of protein (talking strictly egg whites)

Based on the PCDAAS all meats are inferior to eggs and dairy based on protein quality. I do believe beef is the highest rated meat source of protein(all meats are between .8 and .9 on the scale). Considering the massive quantities of protein most bodybuilder consume it doesn't make that much of a difference. There are other things to take into account as well. For example, meat has heme iron which is the mopst bioavailable form of iron.

Bro - ever try ostrich or buffalo? Red meat, but leaner..taste is pretty awesome too....Cost is really the only issue, and availability of course......

karma for the help my friends.

No, red meat is not that much better

red meat has some benefits as stated above : creatine, CLA, iron and other minerals that you won't find in eggs

But the best is to take both red meat and eggs, along w/ other protein source

don't rely on just 1 source

Anyway a steak a day can only do good to you

i think steak is a great source of protien as long as the cuts are lean just pick cuts with less visible fats hey satch you should try adding some steak to your diet and see how you make out ostich and buffalo are good choices too

Which cuts do you usually purchase, SC? Round and top? Ground beef as well?

Regular ground beef = 20-30% fat

even extra lean ground beef has usually more fat that lean cuts

i like a good steak, have one about twice a week, i dont know if u fellows hunt or not, but dont forget about deer meat or venison, its very low fat and very high protein.

Bottom line, red meat contains the proteins with the amino profile that was needed to create that meat in teh first place, the same profile your body is going to use to synth muscle tissue. Best part... it TASTES GOOD. I eat a lot of jerky every day along with a steak every other day. Other than that I'm mostly a fish guy. I don't like chicken really.

Isn't too much red meat bad?

Too much is, by definition, not good

But,"a lot of" red meat is not bad, why do you think so ?

so eating eggs in the morning and 2 burgers in the afternoon and a steak in the evening isn;t too much red meat?

I love steak. In fact I just ate a 12oz steak, and will eat another before bed in a few hours.

Good old top sirlion. :)

DIVISION claims to have lengthy information on why red meat is far supperior to building muscle that other protein sources.

I'll bump for him.

Steak works great for me, I just have stay away from carbs with it.

As long as you choose low fat cuts (don't deep fry this meat), it is perfectly OK

So, anyone on here have some actual stats? I mean how much more protein does per ounce does steak have over lets say tuna fish? I always heard seafood is ounce per ounce higher in protein than any other. There is only 3-5 gms of protein in eggs, and yet a small 3oz baggie of tuna has 25gms.

...anyone on here have some real stats?

Thant's exactly what I was going to say a quality cut of beef say a tbone is gonna cost $10. A filet mignon or tenderloin is the least excersized part of the animal. Tender but alot of fat. Ribeye , porterhouse, filet mignon, and tbone are all expensive cuts of beef. I was taught to cook those kinds of meats slow roast. Marinade them puppies and slow roast it. That will make them taste alot better but I just made them more fattening. But anyway A few of those and you could have bought yourself some ISO-AGB...

But yes , supposedly the fat in the beef cause testosterone to increase.

Too much red meat will cause problems though, won't it?

Sometimes I'll eat a couple of pounds of BBQ steak....and the next day I will feel like crap...almost always...

Not sure if it's the BBQ or the high quantity of red meat....

Also, seem to have a tendency to have less restful sleep, often waking up to get a drink of water (kidneys working overtime probably) as well as having nightmares.

fuck that...

about to score 5kg siroline and freeze those bastards up!

So what are the best cuts??? Usually I eat Ribeyes....should I switch that up? What is the best cut probably for me? For "leanest" cut or whatever

The expensive steaks you get as say Ruth's Chris, Emeryl's, or Brennan's restaurant (you can tell I'm from New Orleans) or any prime time steakhouse will be the tenderloin cuts I listed
1. tbone
2. prime rib
3. filet mignon
4. porterhouse
5. ribeye

In fact the tastiest cuts = the fattest cuts

flavor is in the fat

I eat London Broil...one of the leaner cuts...cheaper, but doesn't taste as good as 'real' steak...

Makes do though....

Can get it on sale for $2.50-3.50/lb in Az.
