Hi guys.girls,
This is my first post here .I’m looking to slim down and loose weight. Im 25 and about 16 stone although I don’t really look it. I used to be quite bulky in the past but due to back injury and almost needing surgery I had to stop which basically meant I put on weight. Im planning to hit cardio quite hard and can fit in 2 workouts which I have been doing. So wake up at 5am and either do a 20k bike ride. Then when I get back from work about an hour of cardio which incorporates cross trainer, treadmill and bike again. My main goal is to shed the weight. Am I going about it the right way? Also Im eating a lot better and not eating junk. Always drink min 2ltrs of water a day, brekkie is porridge or Weetabix with fruit. Lunch is either chicken and salad or veg or something healthy. I snack on nuts and fruit during the day. Then dinner has no carbs and usually consists of thick lentil soup, chicken and veg.
I just want a little advice because I want to slim down and loose about 3 stone.

Cheers

Chances are plenty of people don't know what a stone is! Lol 16 stone is about 100kg or 220lbs how tall are you? That could help with an idea of your overall condition.

Are you doing any load bearing exercises? The problem with just doing cardio is it will break down muscle, as muscle requires and burns energy 24/7 it's advisable to build or maintain it to assist with fat loss as allowing it to break down will reduce your daily caloric requirement meaning you'll have to eat less to lose more fat...

As far as cardio goes I've always found shorter more intense sessions more beneficial for fat loss than long slow ones but the most important thing is you enjoy what you're doing as it will make you more likely to keep doing it and not skip sessions.

You ought to find out your bmr so you know how many calories you need each day just to maintain weight then reduce that by 100-200 cals per day and you ought to see the right weight loss.

According to Dr. Asa Andrews, If you really want to slim down then concentrate on cardio exercises, swim a lot, jog a lot, walk a lot, do cycling. Say no to Fast foods and concentrate more on wheat, rice, lentils. Thats it. Dr. Asa Andrews' suggestion worked for me hope it works for you!

I lost 45 lbs in 3 months doing just 90 mins of cardio/day and eating small 6 meals. Well, that works for me...
