Shooting a youtube video for my business website (music ideas)

not music video, backround music of a video of all the things we do, it will be chopped edited, interviews with employees, customers, alot of shit. Pretty cool when it's all done.

I know it's not a music video...

I bet it doesn't change your sales at all. Waste of time IMO, and unless it's 30 seconds to a minute long most people aren't going to watch it anyways.

They're not going to your website to watch videos. Which basically sounds like a slideshow of pics with a couple interview mashed in.

nope, although I did get called into work at 9:30 which was way too early.

I'm just being honest with him...It's fine if he wants to put that on his website, but I bet if you run analytics on it that it doesn't get viewed all that much and doesn't increase traffic.

Oh I know it won't increase traffic mitch, I know all about peoples attention span when it comes to websites.
This is a clickable video on the front page of our site, they don't have to watch it, but it will give consumers a feel for what we offer and what we are all about. A huge plus in our industry (too many hacks and butchers)
This kid is doing it for almost nothing ($200) just to build up clients.
This is his first one ever done at a local sporting goods shop

jesus!

6 minutes long? I lost interest in about 12 seconds with that video. You're wasting your $200 man, i'm telling you.

If anything have him edit/make you a 30 second one and then call around to your local cable providers and ask them if they have any open spots they don't have slots for.

A lot of times you can pick up 30 second commercial spots on tv for cheap. The only downside is you don't get to pick the times they air but the size of your target audience will be much larger than on your website that pry doesn't have all that much traffic.

yeah I told him 6 minutes is too long also
$200 is cheap, and if done correctly can be a nice touch.
We use to spend alot of money on cable, but have since turned more to SEO and google adwords.

$200 is cheap if you're getting a ROI, but you won't so it's a waste of money. If you're looking for SEO then just add any ole video from Youtube into your website. That will increase your SEO since google owns youtube and it ranks it's own stuff higher. That is free and will achieve the exact same thing as your $200.
