Salt: Whats the big deal?

Unless you are precontest, I do not see what the big deal with salt intake is. I eat lots of food, and a good deal of that food has sodium or some sort of seasoning. I don't add salt to foods, but hey, its in half the ingredients I eat. I understand it kind of bloats you, but I look ripped year round eating my salty ass diet. Is that just because I am lucky, or is salt really a big deal? Would I be twice as ripped if I cut my salt intake in half? What the hell do you guys eat anyway that is salt free?

salt tends to increase BP and hold water which can cause u to gain fat too, but usually this does not effect extremly ectomorphic type,

Your body does need sodium, but you easily get enough from everything you eat.
Even whey protein has a fair amount of sodium. Adding more is overkill.

Salt tastes good, but there are plenty of good substitutes.
Mrs. Dash, Salt-free Montreal Steak seasoning, Garlic powder, Onion powder.
Mrs Dash also makes a salt-free Lemon Pepper formula. It's great with fish.
Near the salt in most supermarkets is "salt substitute" (its potassium).

Salt isnt a big deal until its had a long long time to work on your body.
Most people dont see any noticeable problems with it until they're in their 20's/30's.
Salt raises your blood pressure, increases your chance of heart problems, etc.

I love the taste but never put more than a quick shake on anything anymore.

I tried not adding salt to food, but only lasted a week. My body felt much sorer without salt. I'm figuring if you exercise you sweat it off, and if you eat lots of vegetables, you obtain plenty of counterbalancing potassium
